I wonder if Steve would have fared better if I could have found a studio version?
I like Emmylou's cover better.

I love Steve Earle's original, OMG I do.
That said...Emmylou's version is enough to make a grown man cry. And it did. So let me investigate further by sorting it all out: I'm watching a music vid, listening to an incredible song written by Steve Earle, sung in heartbreaking fashion by Emmylou Harris and here's these desolate images of the desert and I'm thinking about Gram Parsons.
