I think I already know the answer to this one, but I figured if I ask a stupid question, at least it will have been asked in case it works:
If a character has a power (Let's say Impervious) as part of an ATTACK special power, can Animal Man use it because it is part of an attack power, or can he not because it is technically a defensive power found within an attack power?
Animal Man x2
Morlun
Howard the Duck
Thor: Frog of Thunder
Super Ape: Peotr
My Animal Men will be able to use: Indomitable, Steal Energy, Super Strength, Flurry, Telekinesis, and Stealth (There may be others...this is all off the top of my head)

I understand this. This means he cannot copy it even though it is part of an attack special power, right?
ANIMAL TEMPLATE: Once at the beginning of your turn, choose a standard attack power, standard speed power, or combat ability that another character within 8 squares and with the Animal keyword can use. Animal Man man use that power or ability until the beginning of your next turn if he can't already.
Animal Man is, dare i say it, an animal! Some tips on use:
Do not rely on him to be a primary attacker, he works best as a second or third option. Make sure your team has useful abilities to copy (indom, blades, flurry and TK are all great options). Also, you can copy from your opponent as long as they have animal KW figs; nothings better than surprising your opponent with that. Also, don't forget about the combat abilities. I was talking to one of my regulars and he was telling me how everyone was surprised when AM copied duo off DD&MB. This is a very fun character to use, especially when you do 12 damage from a Charge/Flurry/Blades combo that your opponent didn't see coming.
goldpony's opinion is obviously something that we should take seriously-hail_eris
I did a search but couldn't find the answer to this. If a fig has it's standard power outwitted during your opponents turn, can Animal Man still borrow that power when it's your turn?

No. If the power is countered then it is treated as though it is not on the dial. Since the character cannot use a countered power (because it's not even there), Animal Man could not choose it.
Great thread that is very appropriate, considering my team for the evening.
400 point - Modern Age
Beast Boy
Beast Boy Cheetah
Animal Man
Rocket Raccoon
Thor, Frog of Thunder
Detective Chimp
Animal Man had ready access to Leap/Climb, Stealth, Hypersonic Speed, Giant Size, Giant Stride and Indomitable. Although my favorite moment came after my Beast Boy T-Rex had been KO'd, and I jumped Human Beast Boy across the map, bringing the T-Rex right back into the game. The team had great synergy and won both games in which I got to play it.
My Animal Man team went 3 and 0 the night he played. Also at 400 points:
Animal Man
Detective Chimp
Grodd (LE)
Beast Boy Cheetah
Gleek
Imagine my opponent's horror when I pushed Grodd to his second click of Flurry and charged his figure with Flurry and B/C/F and dealt out 8 damage and then moved Beast Boy Cheetah to morph into T Rex and base all his figs while Animal Man pushed and charged again with Flurry and B/C/F while Grodd outwitted and pinged away from outside. Det. Chimp did his share of outwitting and Gleek used his Perplex to make sure attack values stuck or to perplex up T Rex's defense to a 19.

Did you find the modifier Gleek granted your opponent troublesome at all?
Did you find the modifier Gleek granted your opponent troublesome at all?
It wasn't as annoying as you might think. Gleek was the last piece added and I was 38 points short and there was no one else I had or could use that made any sense.
The only team it seemed to help was the scientist team with Mr. Fantastic laying down a plus two each round, but once I was able to base with Cheetah and morph into T Rex the game was settled.
In only one game did someone make Animal Man their priority and after he took 2 clicks of damage, he borrowed Cheetah's HSS, got his attack perplexed up by Gleek and picked up an heavy object using his own Super Strength to lay a 4 click smackdown on The Spot.
My opponents were usually too mesmerized by Animal Man and Beast Boy that Grodd and Gleek were never hit. All my opponents were so happy to be getting Gleek's modifier that they never went after him and made the mistake of going after two figures whose net points were only 139. That helped Grodd with his 11 attack and outwit just tear up the field, and Gleek was always nearby to help him out with a perplex if needed.

and it also didn't hurt that Detective Chimp was able to bounce around to all sorts of hindering to outwit defenses, outwits and perplexes. All in all it was a good 400 point team and I'll probably play it again.
