Why should it override Cobra's SP? There's no particular reason that Cobra shouldn't override Nightcrawler instead.

Think of it that way : when moving, Nightcrawler ignore other characters, including Cobra. So when he moves, Nightcrawler acts as if Cobra wasn't on the battlefield. And if Cobra is not on the battlefield, his powers cannot affect Nightcrawler. So yes, Nightcrawler will evade from Cobra without sweating, just like he does from everybody else.

But Cobra's special power says that characters with HSS have to roll break away from him. Nightcrawler is adjacent to him and has HSS, therefore he has to roll breakaway. It shouldn't matter that he ignores other characters for movement, because he still needs to roll break away according to Cobra.

So why does Nightcrawler's special power trump Cobra's? Because he's Nightcrawler?

Cobra is not there as far as Nightcrawler's movement is concerned. It doesn't matter what Cobra's powers say or do, Nightcrawler ignores all of them when moving because he ignores Cobra when moving.

But....as Harpua even said, Cobra's power DOES trigger since NC is adjacent and does have HSS. So therefore, he should roll break away since that's what Cobra's SP says to do when his power triggers.

When NC is on his Stealth only clicks he should ignore Cobra for movement. But as long as he has HSS he should have to roll break away.

Is Cobra a character?
Yes? Then Nightcrawler ignores him when moving and does not need to break away from him.

Look at it this way...

vlad3theimpaler has this SP:
"Garlic Breath: vlad3theimpaler will always pass a breathalyzer at a sobriety checkpoint."
Quebbster has this SP:
"Flying Volvo: Quebbster ignores sobriety checkpoints."

Sobriety checkpoints are analogous to characters. Breathalyzers are like break away.
vlad3 is like a regular HSS guy. Quebbster is like Nightcrawler.
vlad3 is going to take the breathalyzer, but no matter what his blood-alcohol content is, he's going to pass.
Quebbster is just going to fly right over and never even take the breathalyzer in the first place.

Now, Harpua has this SP:
"Halitosis Filter: Other people cannot automatically pass Harpua's breathalyzers."

This is like Cobra's SP. vlad's another person, so my power affects him. The effect of my power is that he will not automatically pass my test. Quebbster is also another person, so my power also affects him. The problem is that there is still nothing in my power making him even take my test in the first place. He just flies right over.

It's the same thing happening here.

This thread should've closed after post 2. Maybe if that didn't satisfy then post 5.

I think allowing some back and fourth discussion on rules between the oranges and the normal player should always be allowed to happen. I don't think anything said in the post was out of control or it would of been shut down. But simply having an orange come in, say "it's this because I said so" and shutting down a thread really isn't the best way to go about things.

QFT...plus it can end up leading to fun things like stinky-vlad-breath and Quebbster's flying car.

Hahaha yea that's an added bonus. I just think it's healthy for the game all around. Just coming in and saying "It's this" and shutting a thread down, would just come off as a power-hungry, doesn't care what players have to say attitude. Which I think is the complete opposite of the type of people you guys are. But I'm all for shutting threads down when it gets out of hand, and learning about the personal lives of the deputies, stink breath and all.

Are people still this butt-hurt about Nightcrawler that they are grasping at straws to deal with him? He's good, but not that good.
