And this is an example of why I won't be participating in any more of these after this is over.
Why is that? He's admitting that he can't stand Clapton as an artist, but he's voting for him because he feels that he's the more skilled player. To me, that seems both a valid statement, as well as a commendable one, as it perfectly captures the spirit of the tournament. I'll throw a vote to Alvin Lee.

I must have misread it. Still, I'm dropping out after this is over because I see to much voting for the song they like better rather the merits of the guitarists.
I want these clixed: Doc Savage, Fu Manchu, Tarzan, The Shadow, The Green Hornet & Kato, Conan, Solomon Kane, The Phantom, King Kong, Universal Monsters, Black Orchid, Manhunter (Paul Kirk), Xemnu the Titan, unclixed Kirby Fourth World characters, and Lilith, Daughter Of Dracula.
While being a big Alvin Lee fan and not so much a fan of Clapton's, I gotta say that this match was harder to pick. I don't want my bias to cloud my judgment and I also don't want it to work in the other direction as well.
There are easily 20 other songs I would have chosen for Alvin Lee to showcase his immense talents. I've always loved Lee's solos, but even I have to go with Clapton in this one on one matchup. There's a really short passage where Clapton's guitar playing is so mournful that it's just beautiful. From around 1:58 to about 2:10, there's just something there that is so exquisitely perfect for this song in particular. What he does on those bends is easily some of the most perfect sounds for a song with the words "my guitar gently weeps."
