I think that people are going to treat this guy as they treated Darkseid from the superman set. Some people are going to be on the fence about him, some are going to downright dislike him and say the old one is better, and some are going to love him. Personally I think its a great dial for 193 points, and in a set where he has the highest range hes gonna kill in sealed. Also in constructed hes gonna do pretty good as well. You have 107 points left for some support figures in a 300 point game.

Actually, I don't think Cosmic Hulk would give him much trouble. BB lets you have 100 points to play with whereas Cosmic Hulk stands alone. Not necessarily a good thing in 300pt sealed. BB's got a good shot at wiping many boards.

He's not very good in sealed. You really need TK to make him effective. While the double-power action trait is great, the lack of ability to move and attack with it is very limiting. He's got to move up and then wait a turn to clear before using it. Your opponent really should be able to see you setting up the shot and take steps to avoid it. Although even without pulse-waving, you still have a nine-range, triple target 12 AV piece, the lack of indomitable or Power Cosmic really make it difficult to build a 300 point team around this 193 point figure. I really think he needs a TK'er for support. Having said all that, if you are able to pull off the double power action, it wrecks. I hit three opposing characters for 12 damage, then got hit onto my next special power click and proceeded to do six more. That's 18 damage in a three turn span from one figure to wipe out my opponent. Unfortunately, it was the only time all tournament I was able to use the power.
damn it! Black Bolt not having ANYTHING on his Spd is NOT comic accurate!
that absurd! if you think that he's so fricken comic accurate then how come nobody is complaining about his lack of Indom. its the very least they could have done to push for comic accuracy with Blackagar
no move and attack is WAY stupid (at least charge up front woulda been great) but Black Bolt's control over himself and his "will" is such that he never even mutters a sound in his sleep, add to that the fact that he is the ruler of his people (and all of the Kree for a while) and Indomitable seems like a ludicrous thing to have ignored
i LOVE Black Bolt as a character, and i just feel like this one was well on the way to becoming a "definitive" BB but the person designing the dial just quit early and said "eh, good enough, i wanna get outta here, there's a game on tonight"
A figure who can Nova Blast in the Modern Age? I needed to have it. Black Bolt here is a beast, even without his team-demolishing Nova Bomb. 12 AVs are tough to come by, and him only dropping to a 9 for 3 clicks of a 10 click dial (with 5 damage!) is awesome. I'd like it it he had Running Shot on like two clicks other than his top one or two, and perhaps Exploit somewhere (Master Blow) but this is pretty darn good, and I don't suspect he really needs any more ways to obliterate things or extra points added to his streamlined beat stick motif. Overall, with proper placement and timing, a TK, or a Mind Controller who can make enemies flock to him/their doom, Black Bolt will ruin your opponent's day. Hard. Team with Richards for more carnage. Observe Maximus to know why Black Bolt is 193 and not 191.
In 2 local tourneys (1 IG ) I finished 1st and 2nd respectively. He's a beast and I agree DOES NOT warrant running shot. He is a big enough pain in the arse as is.:a-sharpshooter:

Black Bolt is truly a King with this Clix version. While I gave him 4 for Comic Accuracy, this was due to his lack of any sort of Willpower and NOT the lack of Running Shot. The lack of any form of Willpower is a big miss for a man who has trained his body and mind for years to prevent even the slightest whisper from escaping his lips (even while he sleeps). To be clear while I do believe he warrants Indomitable, that would greatly increase his cost on top of making him broken. So, I would have suggested that either "Silent Scream" deal 1 unavoidable damage to offset Indomitable, or give him Willpower contingent on adjacency to Medusa or Inhumans. While I like his sculpt, I am not in love with it due to the "Sonic Scream" emanating from his head. I believe this could have been done better, but I still gave it a 4. Lastly, for the Dial and it's Playability, I gave him a 5. Having played him a couple times, he has yet to disappoint and the sheer fear he instills is well worth the 193 point cost. Finesse at it's finest, I love to play this figure every chance I get.
The King is here. This Black Bolt is a blast, litterally. His damage potentil is out of scale (as it should be). Sure, he cannot move and attack, but that can be easily fixed (in Golden Age, you can even do it and still be thematic). Very deep dial, great combat values, abilty to deal damage no matter what kind of damage reducer you have brought with you (almost). What's not to love with this guy ? The sculpt, maybe...

Just used him last night in the month 2 IG event. Ran him with Professor Xavier (they share the Illuminati keyword) and the new Hulk Leader, plus other filler. Black Bolt did exactly what I thought he would. Have a chance at doing a sick amount of damage on his first click and then little else.
All three games I hit 4 or more characters on his top double power action pulse wave and then didn't get another attack off. He dealt 56 clix of damage (though some were KO'd before all the damage was taken) in all the games combined. Just sick. It definitely wasn't easy. Everytime it involved very precise placement and use of the Leaders TK, but if you play him right he's just a game changer. However, striking first is paramount, because if you get hit first, or miss your attack, he's probably not going to be very useful since he'll likely be alone surrounded by enemies. So make it count.
I knocked his comic accuracy, because like others have pointed out, he's definitely a character that deserves willpower. I understand why they didn't give it to him, but I think by saying that the double power action pulse wave dealt pushing damage that ignored pulse wave would have made it fair. Great figure either way if you don't mind playing a finesse game with high risk/reward potential.
i am a huge black bolt fan and i mean huge, i understand that he probobly should have had running shot but this guy is still VERY good. camp him in some hindering with the power gem and gf dr.strange behind him, he now has 21 defence from range, 6 damage from range wich is also used from adjacency due to sharpshooter and you have a perplex from dr.strange :) beast of a piece and if you get overwhelmed then dr.strange can phase away and black bolt here can fry your enemies with his pulse wave. He is a cannon so he should be used as such picking peices off with his super high damage output and people forget he can use regular pulse wave so when theres one target or he needs to push he can still regular pulse wave.
Silent Scream is one of the more powerful things you can do in the game. It's hard to use right, but it's effects are often amazing. Even if you do not use it, you can make your oppoenet move how you want just to avoid it.
When clicked off of it, he gets penetrating blast, so it's not like he can't power threw their best guy.
His leadership is hard to use well, since you don't want your team around him often. However i find that his wife beside him is really good after he is off Silent Scream.
