They really need to bring Jean Paul back real bad. That was the comic that got me collecting comics Azrael #1 and I collected all the way to the final issue. I do like the attempt at a revamp with Michael Lane but he's no Jean Paul. I think these new owl assassins look kind of like the Azrael armor. The fact he was in Batman: Arkham City, AWESOME!!!

I'm not a big Michael Lane fan, so it would not bother me if they didn't bring him back, but I'm obviously all about the return of Jean Paul Valley as Azrael. Everyone else and their mother has been brought back, so I don't see why they couldn't do it for JPV. I have been waiting for him to come back since his death years ago and I hope I don't have to wait much longer.

It would be easy enough to bring Jean Paul back. Ra's al Ghul needs a new henchman, remembers his time with Jean Paul, and so uses the Pit to resurrect the bugger. A little brainwashing to make it easier for Ra's al Ghul to control him and there you go. That would be the beginning of a new storyline where Bats tries to undo the damage done by Ra's al Ghul.
Of course, then there would be two Azrael's running around. There's bound to be a fight between them.

That's an interesting idea. I wonder how whatever method Ra's would use would effect the System and if the System would eventually override it. JP was getting good at controlling it by the end of the series.
If it were up to me, I would simply explain that the Black Lantern Azrael was the Asian Azrael that JPV killed in battle and that JP was trying to live a normal life like he always wanted. Of course, something would happen that would bring him out of "retirement" where he would feel compelled to help Batman or some other hero. A fight against Michael Lane would be a must as well.
Of course with the new paradigm there is no need to even do that as they have already said that some that came back as BL were never even BL in the new continuity like Hawkman

I will take JPV coming back as Azrael any way I can get it. I don't much care for the specifics as long as he is still one of the good guys. However, a well thought out and interesting story would be nice. Gotta be the Quesada costume too.

What if he comes back wearing only the mask part of the costume and the rest is a pink tutu with frills on the collar ???

And why would anyone want to wear a costume that makes them look like Joephisto ???

You know what, at this point I'll take it as long as he still kicks ### like he used to. I think it would be quite entertaining watching him beat the hell out of people while wearing a pink tutu. I know he would quickly become my daughters favorite character if that were to happen.

He could always dress up like Joephisto. Sweatpants and all.
I'd like to see Azrael pop-up in Storm Watch. I think he'd be an interesting fit. Or maybe Grifter or Voodoo can rescue him from Daemonites and team him up with one of them.

Storm Watch could cross into another of the 52 Universes, one where JP is still (Psycho) Batman.
I think that that would be weirdly interesting.
