Yep..I'm liking this event. It seems like it will be more fun than the Infinity Gauntlet event only because I think people will play more fun themed teams rather then try to min/max their force.
Though, I don't like the idea of "equipping" the bat belt to anyone other then batman related foes or allies but the gauntlet I could care less.. Is that just me being weird?
I'm fine with No Man's Land, an underrated series, and it will come right after a popular new movie, which I'm all for. I am not sure about the object, but then again I'm not sure about the IG object either, but I want it at least to display, should look cool.
No Man's Land certainly isn't as epic as The Infinity Gauntlet but I guess they were aiming for yet another Batman tie-in.
I like the 'War of the Green Lanterns' idea but what would you have as the participation prize + add-ons (ie. The Gauntlet + Infinity Gems) to keep the players coming back? The entities are a cool idea separately but they never really worked together. For this purpose Batman's utility belt makes a lot more sense.
As for alternatives, I can't really think of anything which would have paralleled the IG in the DC universe.
I was hoping that the announcement would quell some of the moaning about WK hating DC, but all it has done is redirect the hate to a more focused area.
Carry on...
Yeah, I mentioned something like that in a similar thread.
I'd be fine with all the complaining about DC being second class if they didn't get an Infidelity Gauntlet-Style event if I knew I wouldn't have to pay through the nose or attend events like it was some sort of obligation.
And you wouldn't hear me complaining about DC not getting an event.
RE: Complaints - There are...what? 44,000+ registered 'Realms members? Seems silly to me to think that all of those folk would have nothing but glowingly positive things to say.
I'd also say that "I don't like this" leads to more worthwhile discussion than "I like this." At least that's my observation.
Longest-Reigning Drunken HeroClix Champion - anyone got a liver?

I hope you're right, but I doubt it.
If there's a coveted prize on the line, people will default to min/max unless you play at a venue with a really strong sense of honor when it comes to teambuilding.
And even if you do have a venue where there's a large, longstanding, group of guys who refuse to min/max despite the attraction of the prize, there are always Prize Sharks trolling for prawn.
I like the belt, though I would have preferred just different artifacts monthly over one that needs to be built. I understand the idea behind getting players to come monthly to get something in the end that is greater than it's parts, but I'd come every time for a unique object where as I could blase about the time gem for example. I'd be more interested if the DC objects had been Red Tornado's head, Elongated Man's wishing gun and Skeets from 52; the Utilitybelt; the Bell, the wheel and the jar; a LoSH flight ring; the Phantom Zone projector; etc.

“Now it is a strange thing, but things that are good to have and days that are good to spend are soon told about, and not much to listen to; while things that are uncomfortable, palpitating, and even gruesome, may make a good tale, and take a deal of telling anyway.”
― J.R.R. Tolkien, The Hobbit
But, of course, someone has taken that book and turned it into something that I can complain about for days.
Suely the belt and it's add ons is the participation prize, no need to assume it'll be hard to get in the least.
It's not the belt that concerns me. There's something like Thanos looming off in the distance, and despite the fact that I might actually have a shot at getting Thanos; I could not care less about winning him.
I doubt that will be that case with whatever is sitting at the top of those stairs in Gotham.
I know everyone's said War of Light, Blackest Night, etc, but I just wanted to put my 2 cents in, because it would've been a kinda cool idea. It mixes and matches and kinda takes liberties with the storyline, but just hear me out.
The first part of the War of the Green Lanterns storyline was to seek out and find the different Corps' entities...which were all, for some reason, on Earth...and even more strangely, in America...but I digress. The New Guardians tried to seek them out seal them in their power batteries, like how the Earth lanterns sealed Parallax in theirs during Sinestro Corps War, and Larfleeze sealed Ophidian in his.
First month: Ion - Possessing Kyle Rayner or Sodam Yat with Green Power Battery/Ring object.
Second month: Parallax possessing Hal Jordan (gives an excuse to remake a GREAT Parallax) with Yellow Power Battery/Ring
Third Month: Hector Hammond possessed by Ophidian with Orange Lantern/Ring
Fourth Month: Adara with the Blue Lantern Power Battery/Ring
Fifth Month: Prostelyte with the Indigo Lantern Staff/Ring
Sixth Month: Predator (maybe with Queen Carol Ferris?) with Star Sapphire Lantern and Ring
Seventh Month: The Butcher/Red Lantern Spectre with Red Lantern and Ring (I only throw Red Lantern Spectre in there because it's literally effing awesome)
Eighth Month: Now here's where it gets tricky. The obvious prize for a War of the Lanterns storyline is Krona, crazy with power, wielding all the rings, controlling the entire Corps and the Entities. You could even make the six possessed guardians as participation prizes (All but Parallax who was sealed in the Central Power Battery, controlling all the lanterns save for the Earth lanterns, Kilowog and Hal).
I haven't figured out what all the Lanterns do when combined. Turn you into Captain Planet? Whatever, what the heck, eff it, we'll do it live.
However, given the fluid nature of these kinds of storylines, you could even make the enemy a colossal Nekron (another character in need of a re-make), or Black Lantern Spectre, or even a White Lantern/Black Lantern Swamp Thing. However, I think the War of the Lanterns storyline is the strongest, and could've been a really cool event.
But hey! No Man's Land! Fun! Yeah! Woo! Or something.
I love Batman, and I think the NML story was pretty amazing from start to finish.
I'm going to hate the event. Except for sealed, you're going to see hardly any Gotham villains on those maps, and maybe just a few Batmen. Know what you're going to see instead?
Galactus and Super-Gauntlet.
