If your venue/ Judge has any brains they will run the game as a sealed booster event to prevent Galactus from showing up and to support the store that's spending thousands of dollars so you can have a place to play the IG events.
I saw that event when they first announced the tournaments and my first thought was 'whomever made that format obviously doesn't play the game much if at all'.
This advice doesn't help. Please try to keep on point of being helpful.
But hey, if you think your 6 attacks are doing more damage than like 3 charge-Flurry's from Namor, two attacks from Galactus and Johnny then by all means...
jonidschultz, I respect your strategy and knowledge of the game but you know as well as I do that we can play paper rock scissors with team building and nothing will ever come of it. I could tell you how Namor won't be a problem, and you'll counter with some other saber rattling argument. Bottom line: in this game something will always beat something else.
I'll choose not to use Galactus w/Gauntlet Month 5 because I feel dirty using such a figure equipped with such an item. My personal opinion is that if you're going to play Galactus with the Gauntlet then you're sending a message to everyone the venue: namely that message is: I have to win, and I don't know how to do it without using the most Min/Max netdecked of teams possible.
I'm not saying that's what you (specifically) or anyone else is doing, I'm merely saying that this is the *appearance* it gives off to me personally. I understand that everyone pays for their toys and wants to play with their toys, and I don't begrudge them for it, but Galactus with the Gauntlet just feels too easy to me, like hunting with a high powered sniper rifle. I'd rather bow hunt which is why, come month 5, I'll be hunting Galacti rather than playing him.

Half the players at my venue reek of BO/Gamer's funk, and the other half are passing SBD's. I won't feel any dirtier than they are.
Kidding aside, I completely respect the argument that you have regarding the message one sends by playing galactus, but would have a completely different opinion. The coming of Galactus storyline is my favorite in all of comics. Seeing a new Galactus has me salivating over playing it. My venue doesn't typically run high point games, so I'm sorry, but I want to play that piece, and I can't help the fact that it coincides with the month 5 tourney. I truly don't mind playing that piece. I completely expect to see a silver bullet, and if Wizkids didn't want people having fun with him in month 5, then they shouldn't have made it a 700 pt game. I'll play him, I'll have fun playing him, and rather than be completely obnoxious about the rest of my team, I'll design it to take out whatever other galactii I see. If I lose, honestly, I'm ok with that as long as I get to play G.
FWIW, I'm not entirely anti-Galactus. Play Galactus by all means. It's when someone feels the need to equip the IG on him that I start scratching my head in wonder.
Like when someone at my venue ran Galactus at 1200 points with Fortitude and Repulsor Shield. Like, really?

I already have a paper football I'm going to use during my opponent's turn. 1 point if goes over Galactus' helmet and 2 points if I make it between either of the 'horns' Between the legs -1 point. If you hit Galactus' hand, game over.
Behold his mighty hand!
What game are we talking about?
The universe will break. Shut the engines down. Everyone you love dies. Fight to save everything.

I agree to an extent. Really any sort of internet or discussion is unlikely to have a resolution that all parties find satisfactory. However I don't necessarily agree that "something will always beat something else" in the Rock/Papers/Scissors way that you mean.
Also, I DO think one can have a very solid theory crafting session. Some people call Heroclix a dice game, I call it a probability game, as such I think one can reasonably determine probabilities. So if we you were to settle on a an "Anti-Galactus" build I think we could hash it out to find a reasonable probability of how the two will fare against each-other.
The theory crafting sessions only become worthless when one or both sides are fluid. Which is what I think you are talking about. However I was simply pointing out that playing Galactus doesn't in any way, shape or form, prevent the Galactus team from six actions for attacks per turn.

This is a very interesting phenomenon in Heroclix. I feel like it's mostly unique to this game too. I wonder why that is?

I am with you here, I really am. But what happens if you/I/anyone comes up with NOTHING that has more than like a 20% chance to beat Galactus. What then? Do you take the 20% chance? Do you not play in that tourney?
Me personally, as a judge, I think that if I decide that even Anti-Galactus has only about a sub-25% chance to win then I will simply ask my players to vote on disallowing colossals for the event. As a player I *may* play Galactus if I have one, however more likely is that I will revise my goals for the tourney and play something I can enjoy playing greatly even in defeat and go with that.
That said I hope your original belief that he will not rule this event proves correct. ::Fingers crossed for an Ultimate Nullifier::
Always a Pleasure m0use.

jtallday- Jon I wouldn't challenge you if I wasn't sure you are wrong cuz I don't have that kind of energy.

I'm sorry, buying a $40 Super Booster didn't help support that store? And your argument could be turned around - sealed allows "broken" pieces to pop up just as much.
If you buy a piece, there should be some tournament that allows you to be able to PLAY that piece. Would you rather have Galactus pop up at your regular OP kit tournies, or a more cut-throat event like the IG series?
Just to throw this out there, what happens when you alpha strike galactus' herald? Everyone seems to talk about all the revenge tokens big g will have, but what if he can't use them?

Im going to run the best team possible at a tournament. It's not a casual golden age game, it's competitive. If I give off the vibe I want to win in a competition, I'm doing it right.
It doesn't say modern constructed the rules just say constructed, does that mean this is a golden age event? The second months tournament was very clear that it was modern this one isn't.
Anyone think the new Adam Warlock (the one that can Outwit through the PC TA) will affect month 5?

Absolutely he will. With the amount of PCTA figs coming out/already out, especially with all this talk of Gah Lak Tus, I know people were trying to work builds around Dirk+outwit. Adam is better for the points than anything they've come up with, I'm sure.
I expect to see the chase Mr. Fantastic (Ultimate Nullifier) as well, though not as much, since, y'know, chase.
EDIT: For the record:

Soul Gem: When Adam Warlock KO's an opposing character, heal him of 1 damage. If that character was 100 or more points, heal him of 2 damage instead. Cocoon: Adam Warlock can use Impervious, but can't be given any actions except a double power action to use Regeneration. Cosmically Unknowable: Adam Warlock can use Outwit, and he may use it to counter team abilities. If he uses it to counter the Power Cosmic team ability, he can use Outwit again after actions resolve to counter a power on the same character.

AFMCS : A Focused Mind Can Survive This : Give Mr Fantastic a double power action. Mr Fantastic can use Psy Blast as a free action and modifies his attack value by +2 and his damage value by +1. Full Activation : Give Mr Fantastic a power action and choose an opposing character within 8 squares and line of fire. Deal 1 unavodable damage to that character for each 100 points (or fraction thereof) of its point value this game. After this action resolves, KO Mr Fantastic.

That's why I would use a HSS herald (WL Flash) and keep him behind Galctus, making precision strikes.
Getting overconfident with your herald is going to be a mistake that I think a lot of people make at first. Sure, your 150 point Superman is pretty intimidating with Power Cosmic and +1 to all stats - but I don't think he's going to stand up so well if you just carelessly throw him into 700 points of enemy clix.
