It also appears that the hindering terrain is there for good, too.

Does Poison require an opposing character to be dealt damage to work? Or can I just give Gardener a free action, deal poison to nothing, and then deal ranged poison?

I would say that the "when he does" means that poison has to actually occur, even if it deals no damage due to reducers.

Boo. I agree that it was intended that way, but I was thinking a slip of the rules could have let him just start poisoning everywhere.

I'd say if you're not dealing, then you're not dealing any more.

I'm going to come out on the other side just to be difficult and make the Oranges post more. Poison doesn't target, so I'm not seeing any restriction on what circumstances (other than the obvious) of when you can use it.

I give him a free action (to activate Poison) and deal 0 damage (because I have no adjacent opposing characters).

Poison does not have a stipulation that says "must have adjacent opposing characters to activate." If it did, Poison wouldn't work well with the Orange Lantern SP.

As I see it, you give him a free action to use Poison. Once you give that free action the condition for UNFRIENDLY FLORA is met, regardless of the effects of the Poison.

This reasoning seems sound to me.

Guys, we can all be wrong together! Suttkus can be wrong on guitar, I'll be wrong on bass, and 'Mouse can be wrong on vocals. If only we had a wrong drummer...

Edit: OR HARPUA MAKES US RIGHT! That goes a long way towards making Gardener downright evil.

I'm going to play Gardener with Dick Grayson Batman when I get a chance...

The fact that his Hndering Terrain isn't removed is what makes him seem so good to me. Once I realized that I no longer think he's overpriced.
