Pulled him in the IG sealed and I played him with Gamora and Nebula. Won with him in a battle royal against Lord Marveel, Uniques Thanos at 150 with Rare Doctor Strange at his side and Mistress Death. Took out Thanos, Doctor Strange and Mistress Death for the win. Grant it through he can be outwited, if you play smart and stay out of range he can do some work. I really like this piece.
1. Can't figure out a good reason to use that trait, or why it's only once per game. 2. That better be an awesome piece you're removing a token from if you're going to do NOTHING with your 236pt character to do it with the attack SP. 3. At least he has consistent defense values
Keeper + Cosmo = potential for numerous turns in a row of tie-down. and with Cosmo's enhancement and PD ability, it gives Keeper the atk/opposition def drop that can outbalance the 10 atk. I'll slap Guardians ATA on him just to at least give him a Power Cosmic lite sorta mojo. and really... I dun think it's all that bad. Sure, I wish he were more amped up power-wise, since he's toting the quantum bands, but... I'll keep my keeper, thanks.
"A" is "A". And no matter what universe he's from, Luthor... is Luthor.
I must be missing something with this guy. When I look at what he brings to the table, I see 190, 200 pts maybe. There really is no logical reason for the low AV with the large cost, the chase status, and comic accuracy. Very disappointing.
So.. Power Cosmic + Quantum Bands = meh? Seriously? If 4 points get's him the GotG ATA.. why not drop the Indom and make him Power Cosmic PLUS Defenders? Attack and Damage should of been higher. He may not of WANTED to fight in the Comics.. but he still could. I really wanted the Keeper to be awesome.. It really seems WizKids just doesn't want Marvel to have to kind of power Pieces DC gets consistently.
My God carries a Hammer! - Nick Fury
That's Dr. Smart-@$$, thank you, I didn't spend eight years in insult college to be called Mister.
This guy is awful. Complete his dial with some Psychic Blast and/or Pulse Wave. Along with AT LEAST one more impervious dial AND another 18 defense somewhere. Lets add a 5 dmg to his first click as well.
Everyone suggesting using Cosmo to boost his 10 Attk... you do realize that character carried by a HSS character are considered to be off the board and don't add their TAs or Powers to the equation during a HSS attack run, right?
So unless Cosmo is just sitting out in the board next to where you plan to have Keeper shoot from, he's not helping.

Pulled him again today in sealed. Ran him and Blastaar at 400, and I didn't lose a piece all day. Granted, I rolled well and my opponents didn't, but, he was solid. In the second game, Gladiator hit him for 7 right off the bat, and i failed my imperv roll so took 5, at which point he was just an outwitter who took tokens off Blastaar two out of every three turns. Each game he contributed in varying ways, and left me impressed. I won't be trading this one away. He's not a straightforward beatstick like everyone's least favorite kryptonian, but, for the skilled player, you can make him worth his points.
His cosmic quantum jump is insane at times. If you have a large army, you can have him bide his time in the starting area... till someone is vulnerable and with two tokens. That is when you use the one-time power to position yourself to join the fight, lurking safely till the next turn. There is the small chance you might see a good choice in using energy explosion through the confines of this opportunity, because if the total is over 4 damage, it's all good. Also, you'll be better off having had deployed support in that zone by then, to deal with that small window of excess tokenage on this cool indomitable Keeper. Starhawk'd make a good companion with him thematically and nonthematically, I'd throw in Groot too. :)
So, The stats are not accurate..neither is the figure, he didn't use the board when he was keeper. Having the attack values so low doesn't look like he actually wants to fight. I keep pulling him out of the tackle box, and I compare to every piece in his point range....aaaand he goes back in the box. Seems like Surfer has no fan base at headquarters, 4 surfers and neither can challenge Thanos. Maybe if the power said " whenever Keeper is placed or moved by an opposing character he may instead be placed in your starting area". Or simply be able to attack after moving with the original power he currently has. Is it that hard to make a Surfer that's decent?
Well...I played this figure in a 600 pt game last night. And...I was both slightly impressed and disappointed. I used him in a future theme with Batman Beyond, Johnny Alpha, Spider-Man 2099, Matter Eater Lad, and Wolverine (the 71 pt one from Fantastic Forces). With the Gauntlet attached, he was able to make it spin faster since he has Indomitable, and the Guardians of the Galaxy ATA made him Power Cosmic lite. He very nearly took out a Cosmic Spider-Man, but the rest of his team was dealt with. I would have preferred higher attack values like the powerhouse he's supposed to be, but not terrible....just slightly underwhelming. I'd use him again though.
I played him in a sealed 400pt game awhile ago with Adam Warlock. Together they cleared the venue. Don't discount this version of the Surfer. With the right back up he is a knock out machine.:classic:
