Well, here's what WK just posted about the event when they're running it at Gen Con:
"Of note, this event states that figures must be from the Incredible Hulk, Galactic Guardians, and/or Chaos War sets. Resources or special objects that do not come from these expansions are not allowed in this event."

So WizKids isn't running it per their recommendation...? Huh.
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.

Well last time I checked. Gamma Bomb was from one of the 3 sets allowed, along with any other LE objects we have or may get in the next set. So the only problem for everyone will be not being able to play the Gauntlet. So sad I'll be fine with my Galactus.
Related question: Since character's from outside the game, but not part of your force, MUST be present per the new rules...if you play Mastermold WOULD YOU or would you not be able to bring in the GSX sentinels?

Run strictly per the recommended format figures must be from the Incredible Hulk, Galactic Guardians, and/or Chaos War sets but the only stipulation for other elements is that they are Modern-legal. The officially run event restricts all elements to those sets. That's a restriction not in the recommended format, which means they aren't running the event as they recommended: they've added additional restrictions.

I am just guessing that the final IG Event is going to be just that. It is the only month where the game is Listed as "Event". After seeing the map I am thinking that you may be playing along side your friends to try and defeat Thanos without being turned into chicklets.

Or, rather than an additional restriction, it's a clarification of the pre-existing conditions?

Playing against the prize? I don't see that happening, and if it was going to happen, I don't see why it wouldn't be declared.
But who knows. I suppose it's possible.

The map has a clearly marked colossal spot on it. It is also the only IG marked as "Event". Which makes me think that Thanos will be judge controlled.

A clarification would be if there were ambiguity in the original text. There isn't: what it says and what that means are perfectly clear. this would be more in the field of errata, where what the text says isn't actually what was meant.

Terrible, terrible idea. The map isn't sized for multi-player and there aren't enough Thanos figures for single match-ups. Larger venues would be unmanageable. My guess would be that the map is designed to support a scenario against Thanos as well as normal play. But I suppose we'll see.

[QUOTE=Troma99;6555946]So the question is does a resource dial constitute a Figure?

I know the easy answer (and probably least controversial) answer will be "ask your judge" but I was wondering if we could get some closure for those who...dont like making decisions and/or faithfully follow suggested formats.
I would say no, it isn't. My own personal opinion. Of course, I'm thinking of doing some sort of change-up for my tournament anyway. I definitely don't want to have the IG showing up for the final event, if only because it seems odd to have it when you're playing for the guy that's wielding it.
YMMV, of course.
