I have read it front to back, actually, back surprise surprise, I didn't retain 100% with 100% accuracy. Sometimes I have questions because my mind is only human, and I haven't been playing for more than four months so I haven't had the rules burnt into my brain from years of playing that only serious memorization could accomplish if I wanted to do it in a short time period, and I really don't care to. I have read it all and for 95% of it would feel pretty confident about, but sometimes I have a question I never bothered to ask myself before, and/or glazed over when reading the rulebook.
God you guys can be such pricks sometimes.
And to see an 'Orange' bandwagoning on the being a prick is unbelievable. You're here to help, not condescend and assume instead of asking and helping when answering questions or just posting in general.
When you get hundreds of questions from people that could VERY EASILY find the answer by researching it themselves, but refuse to due to laziness (from my perspective), then IMO he has every right to voice his opinion.
This is the internet (I won't say public forum), and if you have the right to call people pricks then everybody else has the right to post what they want as well.
This whole "anti-Orange" movement is stupid. I know you're not part of it, but still. They're human, just like you
Sorry for calling it how I see it.
Now to HONESTLY help you:
Most things are in the rulebook. Hell, I've been playing since the inception of the game and read the rulebook every now and then (probably about once per month) just to make sure I'm not caught off guard on anything.
Also, if you have a question, chances are somebody else has had the same question before. You can then use the search function to find what you're looking for and get an answer a whole lot faster than waiting for somebody to reply.
Then, if you don't find an answer, feel free to post it here for help and guidance. Most oranges won't spell it out to you anyways, they'll direct you to rulebook or Player's Guide excerpts to help you not only find the answer to your proposed question, but to also aid you in research tools for later questions as well.
in their defense, you could have opened the rulebook at looked at the correct section. would have actually been faster than posting a brand new thread...
And nbperp WAS NOT joining the bandwagon. he didn't say anything about you... chrisdosmil asked a question, and Norm responded to his statement.
Contrary to popular belief, I do know what I'm doing

Obviously I have read the rulebook, but sometimes it's easier to let someone else answer your question than to wade through text to find something while you could be doing something else. I didn't need an answer urgently, but I was starting my homework and figured I'd just put it out there and check on it in twenty or so minutes.
You people are unbelievable.
And what's this about corrupt oranges? I never said anyone was corrupt, but that's not how you interact with people who have questions when you're the one in the position of authority the question is mainly aimed at.

okay, i'm calling you on this one.... your answer is on page 3 of the book, under the title: Starting Lines... it's not that much text!

Every once in a while it is fine. But more and more people ask something that isn't even a difficult question, like this one. It is in several places and easy to look up. And we have had several questions like that the past few days. You don't have to re-read the rulebook, but in this case, I looked at the section titled "Healing" in the rulebook and easily found it. It is also in the part about starting lines (I believe that was the part chrisdosmil quoted).
I actually don't mind it so much, usually it is just a bit annoying, but when you come on with a condescending attitude and then admit that you just didn't feel like looking it up? That is unbelievable.
edit: the sad thing is, this was originally supposed to be an apology of us taking out frustrations on him, but after I reread his post and realized he was saying "my time is more valuable than yours" it turned into a rant.

That is actually a joke about someone in another part of the boards wrote to WizKids with some inane accusations about the oranges. It is a small joke going on right now.
Had to answer this at a home game recently. Do you think you should be allowed to? Does it even sound fair? I'm going to jump on this bandwagon and ask you quite impolitely to read the damn rules.
And PLEASE remove that ####ing signature. Your giving marijuana a worse name than it already has.
While on the subject though, while the current rules forbid it,
it would be possible for Wizkids to make a special power or trait on a specific figure that would allow a figure to heal up past its starting line (and ignore this rule).
It just hasn't happened yet, and probably never will,
but never say never when it comes to Heroclix. We've seen some strange things come out!
Also, it would be a fun scenario to allow pieces to heal past their starting lines. That gives me a good idea for a fun tournament.
Something called: "You thought I was dead???"
"But when I think about Jason...and what I would endure to have him back..."

Horrorclix didn't have the rule about not healing past the starting line, and some figures had their starting lines a click or two into the dial.

I would be delighted by that. A dual-compatible Dracula figure would make me so happy.
Realistically, though, I don't we're going to be seeing horrorclix again.
Yep, and realistically, that stinks.
Oh well. Stranger things have happened.
I do believe even if they started with a dual compatible counter top display set of something like Resident Evil, or even a new starter set that was dual compatible like the Hellboy set was, it would sell like gangbusters.
Especially Aliens again, or more Marvel Zombies (not going to happen), or Universal Monsters.

And on the rules front, I don't believe that starting line rule is a golden rule, so they could easily bypass that if they wanted to make a special power or trait to get around it, right?
That would be an excellent power for an alter-ego or split dial Wolverine.

Right. Since it isn't a golden rule, there is always the possibility that some future game effect might allow this rule to be broken.

In less time than it took you to post the thread you could have done a search for the question/answer and would have DEFINITELY found something that would help.
But, like you said, "it's easier to let someone else answer your question". So don't get all bent out of shape when people don't want to enable your laziness.
The orange never directed anything at you. He, quite rightly, agreed with the thought that it seems sometimes like no one ever reads the rulebook.
