with that trait this character and An Larfleeze may be the only characters that can attack the ffjl003 Batman from range, albiet by proxy through barrier/construct
There's a lot more than two characters with gimmicks like that. The main set Klaw from Captain America can attack opponents through his Barrier tokens too, and Crystal from Chaos War can Quake from a distance. Those are just two I know off the top of my head, but I'm sure there are others.

Until there's some sort of errata, this Green Lantern can throw the barrier up to 8 squares away and attack someone adjacent to that barrier. Farther more, when he uses this ability, he can attack from ANY barrier. So if he used this ability in your starting area and one of your other characters threw up a barrier in the opposing starting area, this GL can punch threw that other barrier. He's pretty nuts at the moment.
Recently started using this piece because that trait seemed a little ridiculous...and it surely is. Cosmo and/or Iceman are great team-ups with this piece for that Barrier special, but honestly, running a GL Corps team with the GLHG ATA is even more fun. Used this piece with FFGL004 Sinestro, CW204 Space Phantom, and M10A011 The Thing with GLHG ATA on Sinestro and GL. Space Phantom can use his Outwit SP in many helpful ways, whether to get rid of defensive modifiers to make the Sinestro and GL damage stick, or even dirtier...Outwitting someone else's Barrier and then using it to give Green Lantern a little more attack capability. That trait mixed with his TK on first click makes getting Sinestro into a fight easy or getting The Thing to tie someone up even nicer. Think I'm going to switch up The Thing for CW037 Spider-Woman to add even more AV increase to my GL teammates while also using her to get some good basing in.
Isn't that the whole point of this power? Why does it need errata to fix this?
The first part you quote is standard and shouldn't need a change. It's the second part that currently allows you to punch through any barrier that's questionable.
His trait is a great way of representing constructs, that and some nice support powers like tk, leadership and the 'brightist day' sp really give a boost to any team he's on, which is spot on for Hal Jordan if you ask me.
The previous versions of Hal have felt right, but not exactly there all the way. This one just nails it. I hope every GL from now on gets that Construct trait (even if it's as a power and doesn't give ES/D or CCE.)
Proud to be Straight Edge
In the time it takes you to read this, I'm hitting on your sister. If she doesn't take the bait, I've got your mom on hold.
Give this character a power action. It makes a close combat attack against a single opposing target character; modify this character’s damage value by +2 for the attack
His trait was updated in the recent PG:
The second sentence of Construct begins: "When he does, attach the Construct to him after actions resolve and he may make a close combat attack targeting a character adjacent to a square with one of these Barrier markers in it as a free action."
His relevance has returned, thanks to the War of Light event. With traited Barrier, and ES/D and CCE provided by his construct, you'd only need to assign a Crossbow and/or Decoy to make him shine.
Scenario Hal Jordan may start stronger, but this version is cheaper and similar enough in design to be a good first choice. Advantages: Indomitable and GLC TA.
