I have a feeling the "Superior" in the title isn't necessarily talking about Spider-Man presently, but for Peter Parker when he does come out on top I the end much better than he was before.
This is a road to superiority.
I can't see Doc Ock as Spidey for more than a year if that......

Mind you, I still have no interest in Spider-Man right now because that last three issues of ASM left me little desire to read it.....

When Peter returns I'll read the recap on Wikipedia and consider my "caught up." Until then, I too have no interest.

That's fair. I can't say I blame you. I've pretty much done the same thing for the entirety of all the Bendis Avengers run, as well as for most of the big Marvel events centered around his books.

Personally, I'm all in for Superior, but in principle, I get where you're coming from.

I'm just shocked at how many people thought that this wasn't what was to be expected. How could you not know that Peter WASN'T coming back? The only thing was that it happened so soon.

Already backpedalling on it. I actually wanted to see the difference for a while What better way to acknowledge Peter Parker than to show the nuances or not-so-subtle differences between an anti-hero and a true hero.

Oh, and someone who has the book please, please, please take a picture of the page where Spider-Ock is working at Horizon labs and where Potto Octoparker looks EXACTLY LIKE DOCTOR HORRIBLE! Seriously, goggles on the head and everything!

So, not only have they perverted Peter Parker, they've dropped a hocker on Doctor Horrible, too!

I actually dug the hell out of it. Fun little book, and I look forward to seeing where it goes.

If it'd been my copy, it'd have gone in a shredder.

A bit.

The Good:
-I like that Doc is still primarily Doc. I was kind of worried he would suddenly become a straight good guy. I like that he's a dick and I really like that he's so pissed about his success as Parker not being his. It's something different.
-I like the new suit and new inventions
-Doc tastelessly staring at MJ's boobs and ignoring everything she says

The Bad:
-As a (non-NOW)Thunderbolts fan it REALLY bugs me that Boomerang, Speed Demon, and a new Beetle show up with absolutely no reference to Thunderbolts. Boomerang could have at least had a single line with something like, "It's good to get back in the game after being gone for so long."
-The art is good, but the colors are too dark for my taste. I really liked the brightness of Amazing Spidey's last run.
-Parker ghost. I mean, we ALL knew Peter would still be in there somewhere, but it could have been more subtle. Doc saying "something's holding me back" would have been enough.

Well I refuse to read it as well. This may sound dumb, but it broke my heart that they gave peters body to a villain. I kept expecting him to win, or at least die in a spectacular way.

I agree with you entirely. You nailed down everything I loved and everything I felt meh about very nicely. The only other thing I want to add is that I am surprised at how good the comic actually was. I am really enjoying this one a lot more than I thought I actually would.

Yeah, Dr. Oct staring at MJ's breasts while his thoughts were overriding her words was perfect.

Enjoyed this Op-Ed on Newsarama about where things may be going with the series and Dan Slott working at making Spider-man Amazing again.

The first issue grabbed me, so I'm in for the ride. Interested to see where this goes.

Hell, I gave Rulk a bigger chance than that way back when, and the first year of that character's history SUCKED.
