While everything had been going on, Swamp Thing had been battling Nemesis The Warlock all through the night and had driven him back to his kingdom among the Lizard Men. Swamp Thing had followed him there and insisted on continuing the fight.

Nemesis ordered the lizard men to carry on the battle which the hapless lizard men attempted to do. Meanwhile, Nemesis boarded a spaceship, he'd acquired from the Saurians and escaped into space, wanting nothing more to do with Swamp Thing.

When Swamp Thing realized that Nemesis had escaped his wrath, he abandoned his fight with the lizard men and returned to help with Metropolis.

Patience Phillips was curious about Halle Berry and decided to look into who she was. The hotel staff recommended she watch some of Halle Berry's films. They were amused that Halle Berry would ask about herself and perplexed that she insisted on wearing that bizarre costume when everyone could tell who she was.

Patience Phillips selected "Monster's Ball" since she was told it had won the actress an academy award. When Halle Berry first appeared on the screen, Patience gasped at the obvious resemblance they had with each other.

As the film progressed, she gasped again and blushed. It was if she herself was behaving so wantonly on the screen. Embarrassed, she stopped the film. She decided to try a different film and selected "Swordfish". Halfway through that film she blushed with embarrassment again.

Frustrated and nervous, she went out onto the hotel balcony and then took off for the rooftops. Cheshire had been assigned to watch her and did her best to try to keep up.

Saturn Girl had been monitoring Patience Phillips and alerted Chameleon Boy and his temporary teamates that she was no longer under Luthor's thumb. Beast Boy took to the air as a falcon and spotted her immediately, He also spotted Cheshire attempting to stay with her as the apparent Oscar winning actress nimbly travelled the rooftops.

Saturn Girl told them that the woman was convinced that she was not Halle Berry at all and didn't seem to have any idea who Halle Berry was. They wondered if the woman was suffering from split personality disorder.

Beast Boy flew to confront Cheshire while the other three used their powers to subdue the "Cat Woman" and take her back to the facility.

Garfield buzzed Cheshire, being careful not to give her a chance to rake him with her nails.

"Give it up Cheshire! She's with us now. Go report to Luthor that you've failed again!"

Cheshire gave him a smile worthy of her namesake and said cryptically, "A small loss. A delusional actress? She'll belong to Luthor soon enough."

Beast Boy thought about engaging her in battle, but he'd been ordered by Batman to avoid conflict and simply retrieve any new arrivals that might appear. He rather absurdly ordered her to stay out of trouble and returned to his teammates.

Cheshire laughed at him as he flew away, but didn't relish having to report to Luthor that she'd lost the Cat Woman/Halle Berry person.

Black Adam discovered the influx of a full one third of the populace of the country of Kahndaq. The people were mostly made up of those on the lower spectrum of success and Adam had his hands full helping them adjust to their new circumstances and had to redouble his efforts to protect them while they acclimated themselves to their new situation.

His hands were tied for the rest of the day while he organized his subjects and worked to keep his entire nation safe.

Despero went wild when he began purging Kalanor of the Skrull invaders. Those he didn't slay outright, he enslaved. The Skrulls called in Kl'rt the Super Skrull to deal with the new threat, but Kl'rt barely escaped with his life in a confrontation with Despero.

Kl'rt rescued those he could and made a swift getaway. Despero vowed to destroy the Skrull empire and enslave them under his thumb.

At the same time, Sinestro found his own planet infested with Skrulls and angrily began the task of driving them out.

Queen Bee found her planet infested with Kree and began the arduous task of driving them out. This was made more difficult because a third of her planet's population were there and too disoriented to be of much help. Eventually, she was confronted by Ronan who fought her for a bit but finally agreed to have his forces withdraw and arranged for the Kree and the planet Korll to negotiate.

Maxima found her planet nearly deserted except for a third of the population and her handmaiden Sozu.

Patience Phillips was brought before Nick Fury and Cameron Chase.

Despite her costume; they both were startled by her obvious resemblance to Halle Berry, which was obvious even under the mask.

Fury asked the first question, "Who are you? I mean really, under the mask?"

Patience was growing exasperated. "Look, I know everyone here thinks I'm Halle Berry, but I'm not! Until I came here; wherever this is, I never even heard of Halle Berry! I know who she is now but where I'm from I've never even heard of her!"

Cameron Chase asked, "Have you ever heard of Cat Woman?"

"Uhmm! That was a name the press had begun calling me."

"Of course. Do these names mean anything to you? Batman? The Joker? The Penguin? The Riddler?"

"No, why should they?"

"Nevermind. That'll be explained later. You might as well remove that mask. Despite your claims, we know you look exactly like this."

Chase threw out a glossy publicity photo of Halle Berry on to the table between them.

Patience picked it up and reluctantly pulled off her mask. She began to cry, feeling very alone. "You have to believe me, I'm not Halle Berry."

Chase and Fury exchanged looks. Finally Fury said, "We believe you. We're all here under unusual circumstances and there are a lot of peculiar factors to consider in this situation. What is your real name?"

Feeling both relieved and in some way defeated, Patience told them. She then explained how she became a "Cat Woman" and the events that occurred after she gained her catlike powers.

Fury and Chase thanked her for her candor and promised to help her get acclimated to her new circumstances.

She was led off by a female Shield agent and taken to a room she could rest in.

When she was gone, Batman and Captain America emerged from another room adjacent that had a two way mirror for observation.

The four began to discuss the Cat Woman and ponder why she seemed to have a connection with the DCs when no one from the DC universe seemed to know anything about her.

Batman was suspicious of her and demanded she be placed in Gotham City so he could keep an eye on her and verify that she was on the up and up. Something didn't seem quite right with her.

It was agreed that they would do that after she'd been given an orientation about all the strange things that had been happening in the past several days and she would understand what she'd gotten into.

While all this had been happening, a rift in reality occurred, but it happened at the Gotham City beach, which was the site of the original DC universe arrivals. It was almost as if it were an after thought.

Mark Mardon had been blown through the rift while he was riding winds of his own creation. It was the first time ever that winds did something other then what he told them too.

This made him exceedingly angry. The quick tempered Mardon was more famously known as the Weather Wizard and he was best known as a high profile member of the Flash's Rogues Gallery.

When the winds stopped, they did so before Mardon willed them to and Mardon was further angered by that.

Mardon's rage blinded him temporarily to his surroundings and he angrily waved his wand to summon more wind. This time the winds did what he wanted and he was lifted high into the air.

Now he realised where he was and assessed his location. Gotham City? How'd he end up here? He belonged in Central City. In his anger, he nearly summoned several tornadoes but past experience told him he'd better not aggravate Batman.

Quelling his fury, he began to use the winds to carry him to more familiar digs. Namely, Central City.

Patience Phillips was given an apartment complex courtesy of Checkmate in Gotham City. Because Gotham was a DC city, Checkmate had jurisdiction over Shield about day to day affairs.

Once she was settled in and the Checkmate agents left, she began to prepare for a shower. It was then that she was confronted by the Batman.

She screamed and attacked him. It was all Batman could do to subdue her without harming her. He knew he was wrong for startling her, but he needed to know for himself whether she was a threat or some kind of trick.

After a very long conversation, he was somewhat satisfied but told her that she would have to be supervised by the Huntress for an indeterminate period.

Patience Phillips didn't know what he meant by that but he'd impressed her thoroughly with the way he handled her when she'd attacked him.
She had no intention of getting on his bad side and despite herself was smitten by his demeanor.

She wasn't willing to admit it, but she really wanted to see him again.

Brainiac 5 was in the middle of a scientist conference with Hank Pym, Martin Stein, Ray Palmer and Hank McCoy. He was slightly bored, but it wasn't because the others weren't on his level, He was impressed with their intelligence, particularly Pym and Palmer.

It was because their science was so antiquated, despite the setback in science that had occurred after the third and fourth world wars. So many advances had happened in a 1000 years that they could not be aware of.

Restless, he tried to appear interested while longing to return to his own labs back in Smallville.

Story break:

I realized I overlooked the Weather Wizard (who never got a remake) in my original Hypertime segment and decided to correct that with this arc.

Son Of Darkseid Superman met Supergirl atop the facility mountain as they agreed to do.

Supergirl, looked at him expectantly.

"I'm not ready to join you yet, but I've seen a lot lately that has given me much to think about. I've decided to go somewhere, away from Darkseid, away from Lex Luthor and Bane."
"That creature whom I fought yesterday; Beta Ray Bill, had a strange quality I only encountered in one other foe. A foe I vanquished and slew named Orion, before I destroyed New Genesis. That quality is one I think I admire."

"Nobility?"

"Is that the word? It's not one you hear on Apokolips. Nobility, yes. It's a quality I admire and one I think I would like to exempilify, rather then continue down Darkseid's path. That and the fact that in a way, I may have found real family in you if your story is true, that we hail from Krypton. Darkseid makes a terrible father and I'm beginning to believe he has been using me and doesn't truly consider me a son."

"I haven't been lying. You are a son of Krypton and are meant for great things, not to be a tool of the evil that is Darkseid."

"Evil! Yes --- yes that might be the perfect way to describe Darkseid and Desaad. I find I am uncomfortable associating with their evil now that I recognize them for what they are. I'm beginning to regret the acts of evil that I've committed in Darkseid's name, particularly the destruction of New Genesis. I must go into seclusion for some time, to think about this. I will contact you, when I am ready."

With that, SoD Superman flew away.

Supergirl followed him with with her eyes, until he was too far away for even her vision to track. She then returned to Legion headquarters.

The Ultrahumanite had learned a great deal watching the local news of Opal City. He learned about the existance of Capital City and decided to fly there, using his small mental powers to board the plane without incident.

He found the media confusing as a lot of the radio and television seemed to be coming from somewhere where not even super beings existed. Only the local media seemed to acknowledge the strange situation they were all in and speak of super powered persons.

There was obviously more going on then he understood and he would rather sort things out from his secret hideout in Capital City.

Deathbird immediately assumed leadership of the Shiar but she knew she was in trouble because she had no one from the warrior class to help her defend her entire empire and she knew that the Skrull and the Kree had no such problem, thanks to intel she received while she was with Luthor.

Then there was the Brood somewhere out in space. They had always been a problem for the Shiar and now the Shiar were at their most vulnerable.

Other problems to worry about, Galactus. Luthor's intel had learned about him. Galactus needed to feed about once a month. He was a definitive threat.

Then there were other threats from Luthor's universe. Sinestro, Darkseid and others. She had her hands full.
