I'm liking it for what it is. I think it's more of a way to reintroduce/introduce him to fans since most readers probably aren't familiar with his backstory. I have a feeling that Jim Starlin isn't happy with it so it's hard for me to really get into it knowing that.

Well, I was liking it for what it was until I re-read Thanos Quest. Awkward kid-Thanos doesn't jive. Some of the artwork was tripping me up, too, like why he was using a shovel with a wooden handle on a world with very little in the way of trees, especially in the midst of narrating the many things he had accomplished as an adolscent and his describing how he'd manufactured many of his own scientific tools. But he digs graves by hand with a primitive spade? I dunno. Chalk it up to pre-Infinity Well, I guess.
I won't look at your dial-on-card, I don't look at my own, and you don't need to see my DOC, ever. Otherwise, we're not playing HeroClix.
After the girl's comments to Thanos, when he said he could force her and she countered he couldn't, my belief that's she is Death still holds.
The end seems to go with something Thanos' father once told the Silver Surfer in regards to Thanos' origin which went against something that had been said years before about Thanos' origin. There seems to be a retcon here & there that needs to be explained.
after reading issue #2, is probably the most disturbing thin I've read since Caligula and Crossed: Psychopath.
And. I. Love. It.
The Thanos "origin" story is beyond my dreams. can't wait for #3

I'm liking it. I think it's opened the doors for some future tormenter of Thanos with his offspring as well. Maybe he missed one or it was hidden from him or something and now it comes back for revenge.
That chick is totally Death as well.
And did anyone else get the Starlin System where Galactus was eating planets at the beginning? Great nod to the man who created Thanos.

And now I see that Starlin is working on a top secret project for Marvel. Has to be cosmic related. I can't wait to see what they let him run wild with. In my opinion, there's no one better to let have the cosmic part of the Marvel universe than Jim Starlin.

I bet that little girl is in fact his Mistress, Death.
Well, I got that one right it seems.
Interesting story. Too bad in a previous story from several years back Starfox stated that a DNA test was done that proved the Nebula was not Thanos' grand kid. This current storyline could've explained how she came to be. They could've just said Thanos left one of his women without knowing at the time she was "with child" and she'd give birth and the kid wouldn't be at home when Daddy arrived. The kid grows up, sire's a daughter and she grows up as Nebula. End of story.
Oh, well.
Thanos has been my favorite character since the Infinity Gauntlet story. I found myself not really liking the character after reading issue #3. They have given him to many real human traits and made him less of a comic super villain.
Wanting to take over the universe and fighting super-heroes is one thing but essentially turning the character into a sociopath and making him a serial killer is another thing altogether. After reading this story I'm just disgusted with this character.
The good thing is that I will save a ton of money by not hunting down all of his appearances.

I am very sorry to hear that this is ruining your favorite character. I wouldn't wish that on anybody.
To me, the fact that they are making him a sociopath, hell bent on murdering, makes him more real. A villain is not terrifying to me, but a serial killer, that's scary. This has brought a character I am not all that familiar with into a whole new light for me.
I love it.

You realize that the first thing he did when he got the Infinity Gauntlet was kil half of the universe for Death right? He's a stone cold killer. That's just part of who Thanos is.
