Personally if Heimdall is ignored by characters with IM: Ignores Characters (which is about 1/3 of the dials since IM: was introduced) then he is basically useless for 160pts. I can't imagine that game design would do that, so I will wait patiently for a ruling from an Orange.
Just so you're not giving up on this guy too early only 44 characters out of the 446 clix out since they introduced Improved Movement (M10/DC10) ignore characters (10 of which are vehicles with it built in). So only 1/10 of the dials... not as common as you'd think. In fact only 81 have any sort of IM at all.
I would say DETECTED BY HEIMDALL will over-ride Improved Movement:Ignore Chararacters. IM:IC works against CHARACTERS, not SPECIAL POWERS. The Batman can Ignore Heimdall AFTER The Batman stops at Range 3. Wait until June to see official rulings from the Rules Deputies

If Plasticity doesn't stop IM: Characters, why would Heimdall's power?
If you look at the exact quote I pulled, IM: Characters acts as if the characters on the board don't exist, including their powers, because if the character isn't there, how could their power be there?
There isn't any need to wait, IM:Characters WILL ignore Heimdall.
If Plasticity doesn't stop IM: Characters, why would Heimdall's power?
Just to clarify; Plasticity does stop IM: Characters.
Plasticity:
This character adds 2 to its d6 roll when breaking away. Opposing characters can't automatically break away from this character and subtract 2 from their d6 rolls when breaking away from this character. Opposing characters entering a square adjacent to this character must end their movement, even if they would not have to do so normally.
The only reason I can see Heimdall not working on IM: Characters is because his text doesn't have the bit about "even if they would not have to do so normally".
However, even so, I wait patiently for the ruling from a mod.

Did you not read the link from the Wizkids write up about the changes to movement powers? The one where it SPECIFICALLY states that Plasticity does nothing to IM: Characters?
I even quoted it here for easier consumption. Check it out, its good stuff...

No I didn't. I was in the beginning of this thread and haven't looked at it since.
After looking at their write up I see that once again game design members are not on the same page in their wording of powers. If a power says "Even if they would not have to do so normally" it should mean even if they should not have to do so normally. They need to stop writing out powers and then taking it back because it was a much needed nerf to a new and unbalanced game element.
SMH....
Thank you for linking that to me. I concede the point to you.

NP. I don't think IM is unbalanced, but to each their own.
I feel like "Even if they would not have to do so normally" is designed to stop anyone who automatically breaks away, but doesn't ignore characters. It makes perfect sense with Phasing, because how is the stretchy/sandy/watery guy gonna stop someone who phases through them/teleports away from them? But the guy who Leap/Climbs around a lot, or super speedsters, they are definitely stuck.
Characters like Batman or Spider-Man should be able to dodge the stretchy/sandy/watery guy, its just the types of characters they are.

Makes sense to me at least.
From a character accuracy standpoint yes, I see your point. But from a purely game mechanic view it doesn't work. Plasticity was a useless power, it got a beef up with the new PAC, and then they go right back and strip away half of its potency. It's just a bit disheartening.

So... A point no one brought up, plasticity makes you stop when you BASE some one, this is a effect that would be like a zone around him, like the death stroke thing u would imagine. Ignoring a character, and his plasticity ignores basically being tied up. This power doesn't tie you up or anything, so I feel like comparing it to plasticity is like apples and oranges, both fruit, but totally different.
Pulled him yesterday, fun piece, cannot wait to play him on a bigger Asgardian theme team where he'll have the back-up he deserves.
I played him with a larger asgardian team and let me tell you, it was Epic. I was able to switch from keeping Heimdall in the back to buff my upclose fighters and my ranged attackers, then was able to charge in to clean up. This is a very fun piece, and I am finally happy that Asgardians have finally gotten a buff again!
I want a new Beta Ray Bill sculpt already!!!! <-- Thanks WizKids

The problem is not the wording on plasticity vs the wording on Heimdall's power. The problem is the wording on IM:IC. As stated before in the posts, if you ignore characters for a purpose, you act as if they werent there, ignoring both their pressence and their powers. That means you ignore platicity AND Heimdall's power. It has nothing to do with the actual funcionality similarities/differences between plasticity and Heimdall.
For the record, I think the piece is nice, it fits a niche and has a lot of potential in asgardian teams. But hes just NOT the answer to nightcrawler and the likes.

But he does shut down anyone trying to charge or HSS to him or anyone else in his bubble, but otherwise he's a great piece, attack values are a little low but some perplex and he's as good as gold.
