I thought it was funny, and kind of illustrates a point about the CTD's.
They are intended to grab peoples intrests as a impulse-buy. You'd want to load them up with the 'popular' characters that are reconizable so someone who just casually bought it might be interested in the full 5 figure packs.
If I'd never played Heroclix, and saw those Batman packs and bought one then got the hired goon, I might torch it as well.
Bottom line- stop putting generics in the CTD primer sets.
I'd like to thank those that suffered through it (and posted about it here) so that the rest of us didn't have to. You are the true heroes of the realms.

I disagree. While the impulse buy thing is great, it's guys like me who buy one or two with my weekly books who help the things to move.
Best way to get guys like me to move the things is to include figures with gameplay value. Generics fit this mold.
ANECDOTAL EXAMPLE - I can go to a few different stores in the area and get my hands on Green Lantern CTD units. CA CTDs sold out within a month of their release, because guys like me were buying multiple packs to get one of the four amazing generics in the set.
