If I had to take a shot in the dark, I would have to say that the guy chained up is Angel. I've never heard another character describe the love of the flying like Angel did back in the old days. This story almost seems like a Origin on acid. Same visual team, but with a much better writer. Not that Jenkins is bad, but he's a 50-50 type of guy. Some of his stuff is good, but some of his stuff you could call bad and it would be a complement. Now I'm going off on a different topic. The point is, 1602 seems more like an elseworlds story. Since Gaiman also loves magic, there will more than likely be much of that in the book.
I could call it throwing my money away on the book because I'm right at my comic budget for the month this month, and getting this means dropping other titles I normally buy, or starting on the slippery slope of breaking budget. If I knew more, I might drop the titles.

My end goal and greatest hope: Mat 25:23 His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will set thee over many things; enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
I think 1602 might be good. For those who don't want to waste money on it, you could always wait for feedback on the book. If it gets a lot of positive reviews, buy the trade paperback just to read it (in case back issues rise in cost to the level of Ultimate Spider-Man #1 - White Cover). Or you could always read it in the comic book store when it comes out.
Also, the old man in the Wizard Magazine looks like the old man Mysterio tried to pretend to be in Kevin Smith's decent Daredevil story arc (Daredevil Vol. 2 #1-7). Remember, they did lithograph of the Marvel Universe with the funny looking man's face on it, so he might be more important than anyone thinks....
I run HeroClix tournaments at Shuffle and Cut in La Habra, California. The format of each tournament will be posted here.
might be angel, but i didnt see wings. possibly... lets see... a current teenager who can fly... superboy?
seriously, im gonna guess someone in an x-team, (lame, i know) but only because they are the only group that has teenagers. unless it's franklin richards. angel is still plausible, though.
i will try to pick it up, still.
"I'm Mercury, dammit!"- Jay Garrick, regarding his hat.
Deffinately been way too long since I've read anything by Gaiman. I dont care what my comic budget is, I would drop all my regular titles to read anything written by comic's greatest writer ever
my guess is someone from origin, some character that andy kubert drew... old man howlett or the guy who was james howlett's mentor or james himself (aka logan aka wolverine)
those do look like claws on the lower left part of the picture...

You do know that this comes out in August and not this month, right?
well am going to check out the first issue, but am not committing myself untill issue two comes out. I am sure my comic shop will have plenty of 1602 ordered.
