I've been looking at this thread for ages and I'm only now understanding that Hawkguy is Hawkeye and not a gritty independent comic about a man who is part hawk (I have no idea why I assumed that).

Basically, he's got a neighbor in the building that calls him Hawkguy. They also do this in the letters page and elsewhere in the narrative. There's an excellent moment where Kate is referred to as

Basically the book has some kind of literary tongue firmly in its literary cheek.
