I see. I just read up on the difference. That's a huge plus since I hate combat reflexes and energy shield lol. Thanks for the clarification. My hatred of buffs should keep me from forgetting
Tommyboy, who exactly is Ghost Riders crew? lol I wasn't aware he had one.
To further what the lantern was saying, I believe that the outsiders ta also works on someone with a gauntlet/utility belt modifier like +2 to all stats so it is something to consider even after you expand your collection. I try to find room for an outsider ta piece whenever I can.
Ghost rider hangs with whoever he wants but the crew refers to as many "heros for hire" ata users that you can build a good team with. The ata says remove a hired token from the ata card and give one extra action per turn as a free action. Tokens on the card are determined by the number of H4H ata users you begin with.
edited for hairsplitting clarity

That's not how it works. It gives you x tokens at beginning of game, where x=the number of characters using the team ability. Then once per turn you can remove a token to get one action as a free action. So let's say you have 3 Heroes for Hire on your team, that means you start with 3 tokens and you can use one per turn, and they're gone forever after those 3. The way you word it, it sounds like you're getting 3 free actions per turn. Is it good? Sure. But is it game-breakingly awesome? I don't think so. It's 8 points per character, so in this example that's the cost of a Destiny, two Con Artists, or a Madame Web, all of which I think are better options for the cost. Also, to really get maximum usage out of the ATA, you want as many tokens as possible, right? And that means more characters, right? But more characters means less points per character, which means characters that aren't as good, which means those free actions aren't going to be as awesome as you want them to be.
In short, H4H is way over-hyped and not that good.

Everyone knows what opinions are like and you sir have that in spades.
First of all I stated clearly "one extra action per turn" so perhaps read next time before spouting.
Second, Ghost rider H4H teams are the top tier team period end of story look it up before arguing or spouting.
Third, thanks for taking up that much space spelling out the ata that can be referenced any number of places and yes it is that good even outside of 300 point modern because no other ability allows you to outaction your opponent so well except maybe team bases. With the new Fear Itself characters plus brodoo with his free mind control without feedback; wait a minute why am I explaining this to someone who hasn't played the team or against it and probably is completely content to remain clueless of the things he spouts about.
Your exact words were, "one extra action per turn as a free action for the number of hired tokens on the ata card." Sure sounds like you're saying multiple free actions per turn to me. That or you need to go back to eighth grade and work on writing sentences that convey your meaning clearly.
Look, it's certainly not bad, but I just don't think it's that awesome. In 300 Modern, yeah, it's good and I can see why it's played competitively, but that's one format out of hundreds of possibilities. Just because it's the Worlds format doesn't mean it's the only format things should be judged on. So yeah, in 300 Modern, H4H is certainly good, but in Golden, I'd like to introduce you to Edward Nigma, who's been allowing ANY piece in the game to out-action opponents for years, not just certain pieces with certain keywords. Or Aragorn, who lets you move your whole team with one action throughout the entire game. Out-actioning opponents is what this game is all about, and H4H is certainly not a pioneer in that field.
Anyone that assumed my statement was adding 3 free actions has no business posting.
Edward Nigma cost about $25-$30 and 60points; ata's are print and play. Plus Edward doesn't give actions like the ata. Edward basically just has good leadership. The ata lets you do more per turn, really Edward doesn't even compare.
Nobody said it was the best thing ever, but it has more than proven itself and again you clearly just like to spout without knowledge. Your arguments are just empty words that amount to very little game play. Like another point you seem to have overlooked is that Ed and Aragorn die first, ata's don't die and are hard to disrupt.
Of course the main point you continue to miss is that by the poster asking about "the deal with Ghost Rider" automatically infers a modern conversation, and in that case you have no point whatsoever.
But truly thanks for coming in and wasting space and time with unnecessary naysaying.
And thank you for turning a thread full of people trying to be helpful to a new player into an argument. All I was initially trying to do was correct your poor grammar.
Maybe H4H just isn't my style, but it doesn't have to be an issue here. I prefer to play more of a tentpole style team, and H4H doesn't lend itself to that at all. So for me, no, I'll probably never play it. I'm not saying it's bad, just not something I would play.
How about this: back up your words with gameplay. Go to creationmatrix.com, read the tutorial, learn how to play there, and play me. 500 Golden, you bring your cute little H4H team and I'll show you how much better Edward Nigma is. Until you can actually back up your talk, drop it.
Dude you came in with the mouth and tude, all I tried to do was clear the air. Nobody asked what your style is and trust me when I tell you there was never an argument here because you never had one. So far as your game invitation, I wouldn't waste my time just based on the fact that you spent 2 posts going on about what you have little clue.
There is a reason that golden age doesn't get the same attention as modern and it's not that you and Edward are so good that modern is scared. If you haven't caught up yet it seems unlikely that you will so when someone asks a question about modern you might want to leave it alone. All the things (Edward, feats, etc.) that you think make your "style" so great can be applied GR in a golden age game. You are very unlikely to find 145 points that is clearly better and when you factor in all other features it is still unlikely that you could beat it.
GRH4H isn't a team I play either but rather than come in here shaking my cane and talking about the good old days, I actually tried to answer the question asked. Sorry I wasn't perfect enough for you but I was still more helpful than; "it's really not that good"., because that added nothing but ignorance.

Actually, I came in with a helpful post about general team building strategy, which is exactly what was asked for in the original post of the thread.
Like I said, play me or drop it. We've both stated our arguments, and obviously neither of us has been swayed in the least, so there's really no other way to prove your point. If you don't want to do that, then repeating yourself and flaming me some more isn't gonna help your cause. But I'm sure you will anyway.
both of you need to just stop. You have made this thread horribly off topic and it could get both of you suspended or banned. You're both wrong. Horse you came in sounding like a pompous @$$ from your first post and you "play me or drop I" sounds like the typical internet tough guy act, which everybody HATES and wins you absolutely NO points in this situation. Besides H4H would completely destroy you.. Kang, you got a little too defensive. The high road would have been just to ignore the guy. While I do like the intelligent way you approached he situation, I think everything would have been better had you just blown the guy off. people like that are just seeking attention, even if negative. Anyway now we can either get back on topic or I can start reporting posts to mods and they can start handing out vacations. Good day

My initial intention in responding to Kang was to clarify what he had said so as not to allow a new player to be confused and go to his venue thinking he had some awesome trick with a bunch of free actions every turn. I found Kang's choice of words confusing, and decided to clarify. Wasn't trying to 'win points', just trying to be helpful, but I guess that's offensive. My bad.
