You'll find placing the cloaked mines a little tricky then.
Not with 2 of the OWP isn't much room...
not really it puts the mines right where I wanted them. with the Kraxons speed, it can push ahead of my other ships, drop the mines in one of the narrowest parts of the board, and then fall back into formation. This forces my opponents to make a choice about flying right into the mines to come at me head on, or turning to avoid them which will put them in range of at least 1 if not 2 OWPs. Because of the special rules for the Cloaked Mines, my ships aren't affected by them, so I can fly straight through the field with no problems.

I can't visualize where you wanted them.
When we used them in our final round, range 2 away (about 8 inches) from the OWP was on each of our own sides (meaning on the half of the board we each started on). They were set up for if the opposing ships tried to fly past our ships and tried to come about - that is when they would hurt someone.
An 8 inch radius around the OWP is pretty significant.
Visible Dials and Pushing Damage need to be optional. This is the way.

The key with the Cloaked Mines that a lot of people overlook because of the wording on the AntiMatter ones is that you can place them in any direction of your ship. Meaning that you can actually place them at range 2 in front of you, allowing the Galor to race forward with its speed, drop them off way ahead of itself, and then pull a couple 1 forward maneuvers to let the Valdores catch back up.

Meh, anyone seeing a Kraxon loaded up with mines should see that coming a mile away and just move forward. Then bye-bye Kraxon.
Gulyadkin Victims List: Spider-Man (ASM 001b), Green Goblin (M10A 004).
Black Panther R (IC) Mjolnir Attempts: 2 for 2! HE IS WORTHY!

Exactly the plan and it worked great. The kraxon moved up, dropped the mines at the beginning of turn two, then while my opponent wasted his time shooting at the Kraxon, my other two ships wiped the floor with them while Mirok slowly regenerated the shields. Had two back to back perfect games with this steam last night. At the end of the first game (which lasted all of 5 turns) my Kraxon had lost a single shield and neither of my other ships had a scratch on them.
The only thing that gave me any trouble was another romulan build (a Valdore, Khazara, and Praetus) also packing cloaked mines.
Played our month 2 today. Was a ton of fun. We have a good group. Not big but its cool. Only 3 of us showed though, was a nice day out.
I used
Enterprise-D
-Jean-Luc Picard
-Cheat Death
-Antimatter Mines
-Montgomery Scott
-Miles O'Brien
-Mr Spock
U.S.S. Defiant
-Christopher Pike
-Cloaking Device
-Antimatter Mines
-Hikaru Sulu
Elite Attack Die
Really wanted to try this team, saw it posted on bgg. It was really fun to play, and good. I ended up winning. Played against a dominion team and then klingon.
Both games i moved enterprise on very edge up, and defiant next to it slowly. Cloak defiant, then would shoot enterprise past their shis w/5 move and drop the mines. It was awesome. New found respect for Fed ships and 2 ship build.

Played a game with a new-er player (like all of us aren't ) who was telling me how there was no reason to not have a heavy cloak, and mentioned a lot of the more vocal players on BGG as an example.......I suggested that we could have a quick game and I could some him some of the pitfalls of of Cloaking.
Double Antimatter mines......and 2 combat turns later, he had a first hand experience that maybe cloaking isn't the alpha and the omega......its a strategy/tactic and a good when when you can use it effectively.

congrats on your win as well!!
Add my congrats as well, Jarimy123
It is almost upon us! Are you prepared for the Quarmageddon?
Thanks man. I can't tell if the elite die is worth it. I think torpedoes would have been a better option for these build.
Well if you're using it when you first drop your mines(the only time you roll for it that you'd be able to) it can be quite effective for your build.
Like reklawyad mentioned, cloaking seems to still be quite common so getting a target lock is not always an option.
My personal opinion on the the Elite Attack Die, is the same as when I first saw it.....it's interesting, it's fun and it can be useful.....and if I have 5 points for it I would definitely consider it a viable option for any team......but I won't be choosing it every time, for sure.
And that's how I want most upgrades to turn out, so it's fine with me.

Congrats on the win! It's nice seeing the Federation have success, especially in OP2. The OWPs could really hurt them.
I think the die is pretty balanced. It could really help you out, or it might not make much of a difference. Really depends on your play style, and of course luck.

If you take the die and are only rolling a fleet that never can use the battle station icon those are basically "Blank" faces. I find this to be a good balance myself.

Agreed. The Elite Attack Die is better on Federation teams due to the battle stations.
I think the command options (LE thing you got for Month 2 - can't recall the correct name) is more useful.
I did face the Elite Attack die in month 2. It never did more than a regular attack die. Granted, the player using it was using the Reliant (2 attack dice) and a Klingon ship (no battle stations) so it wasn't on an optimal team.

Honestly I think all the resources are balanced well. There doesn't seem to be one that is "needed".
In month 2 I saw four different venues and not all teams ran the die. I love that the command tokens were not allowed at most just since not everyone would have a chance to get them.
