I don't actually own one, but the amt DS9 model should only be about 17.3" in diameter (assuming their scale is correct, and they used the same diameter as Memory Alpha lists for DS9), and seems to sell for somewhere in the neighborhood of $50. So, I would think that would be serviceable if you really wanted a 3D representation to place on top of the card, but didn't win the big ending event. No real reason to shell out much more than that, I would think.

No, I think you are misinterpreting that info.

The DS9 participation token comes with cards (presumably the DS9 and Abandoned Space Station)

The Grand prize is just the model (from what we can see, so far)

Its from Playmates. It fits pretty good, and has the extra added feature of making sounds when you shoot your phasers or torpedos.

I totally misread your post and thought you said the model came with cards. That being said, all the ship prizes are listed the exact same way and have also come with cards so its not a stretch to speculate that the DS9 model will also come with an array of cards that include crew, weapons, and tech.

I can't wait until I get one into my hot little hands. Going to be a wait but it will be worth it. It will look nice on my shelf. How legal in play will it be? Just event purposes only or regular play?

its not for use in a regular tournament, although TOs are free to run events as they see fit.

That's true, it's not indicated with the info we have but I wouldn't completely rule it out until we see the instruction sheet (with the more detailed info).

Unless it is different then the token (which I don't think we've heard that it is) I would imagine that it will have no tournament play.........will be neat for friendly games and great as a centerpiece for scenarios you play.

Just my take though.

I'm personally hoping it is different as well for two reasons:

1. I already have three of the DS9 token from Month 1. I do not need any more.
2. I'd really like to see the reverse side be the Terok Nor version with dual Dominion/Mirror Universe factions instead of the Independant faction.

This right here, it would be very cool to see Terok Nor as an alternate.

Personally I'm hoping wizkids does the right thing and does give cards with the participation prize, like some crew and upgrades and stuff.

You mean on top of the ship(fighters) with base and stand and sculpt and cards......and the DS9 token with 2 cards that all participants get?

Yes. i do. because i can deal without the station (even if it has unique powers and stats) But some crew that seem as if they would only come with the station would make me very sad to be without.

Does ebay have a presale rule? I checked and cant find that as a violation. There were tons of them for ps4 and xbone.

There is not one member of the DS9 cast/crew that can't be released in additional releases. Be it a cloaked Defiant, the Bellerophon, a DS9 defense crew 2 pack, a bajoran ship or possible multiple appearances in a mirror ship release or something else.
