The nice thing is one can buy multiples of the ships. No reason the Federation can't have a fleet of 3 Constitution class ships: USS Enterprise, the USS Constellation and the USS Thugit.
Visible Dials and Pushing Damage need to be optional. This is the way.
Nice! Well yeah, then you've got plenty of options. In fact, doesn't TOS-era Federation currently have more, at least in crew options, than TNG-era Federation?t
Yeah, I'll echo others and say that, from my experience so far, TOS Federation crew are excellent, and can make an OK ship perform really well. Kirk is only going to get better as more elite talents are released, too, so that's something to look forward to (although you will have to either buy some non-TOS ships, or trade, to get them).
Also, if you're build extends to TOS-movies, then the Excelsior looks like it's going to be a really strong addition to Federation fleets, and has a nice dynamic with the Reliant (the smaller, more maneuverable ship geared towards getting in close and harassing with the larger long-range attack ship to launch torpedoes from further back).
I think the only trouble you're really likely to run into is that there probably won't be that many 100 point builds with only TOS-era stuff, so they might feel a bit stagnant after a while. But, if WK releases a USS Yosemite or Grissom (which we know they have a sculpt for), that ship model was in use for TOS movie era, so there would be another option. Is the Nebula class that early, as well? If so, and you get a USS Sutherland, you can use that ship, too.
Also, depending on how picky your play group is, you could always use TOS-era miniatures from somewhere else on top of TNG-era stands as "counts-as" ships. The "A Call To Arms: Star Fleet" minis are nice, if a bit pricey: http://www.thewarstore.com/mgpstarfleet.html
The Nebula class was started after the Galaxy class hence the saucer section. They built it up on the Galaxy that they liked it an with the right upgrades they made the new ship class.

Sparrow, Moros Second Degree Master
U.S.S. Thugit just might be the best ship name ever.
I've taken to naming my generic captains on the tournament sheets. Month 2 saw the Romulan captain Bob do quite well, although he paled in comparison to Month 3's OdeMan aka Gramps, the Romulan captain of the Praetus. For a ship I considered utter dreck, it was wildly effective in month 3, leading the troop attacks and was incredibly elusive. Gramps shocked me with his ability to get evasions after evasions when not even cloaked.

Since starting this thread, I've played four tournaments, going 9-2 (had a bye once) with two tournament wins. (I have won a Sutherland and whatever the name of the LE Romulan ship is!)

So, I'd say the 1701 is waaaaay better than Boardgame Geek forums would lead you to believe.
Kirk FTW!
I don't get to play in tourneys (I'm a t.o. In our area) but every time we play a casual game I whip out my Kirk, and it is awesome how often he does well
Glad he works out for you as well. Can't wait till you can ally Kirk with a gorn ship in a little post arena Alliance

Well in their defense, you are a specialist at this point in running the 1701.........and many of the posters only really look at attack dice and hit points as the strategy they pay most attention to.
Now there are also many players who also look at more strategies as well and looking to really getting a deeper game out of it.
And a lot of us are still learning the strategy that the game has.......people will always gravitate to the 'easy' point and shoot strategy first.
Most people see the value in the crew they just prefer to run them on a different ship.......from the times I've used it, I've found it to do quite well.

Wish I could be saying the same with Dukat :/
Well you are limited.....you can only play as condescending as a human being.
What are you running with him?
It is almost upon us! Are you prepared for the Quarmageddon?

At this point I'm willing to take suggestions. Dukat with the Koranak is what I'm running, but I may switch him over to one of the Jem'Hadar Battleships.
I don't want to drop non ToS stuff in Thugit's thread, so we can start a new one or you can PM me if you want

Good point, you can start a new one.
On topic........Thugit, are you looking forward to the 'refit' as more of a potential replacement or a potential sidekick to the Enterprise we have now........in theory as we don't have any info other than the sculpt pic yet.
