The advantage of the tray over using the plano box is that hopefully it's less of a balancing act when you're walking, because of the slots. Or less of opening and closing a box, depending on how you do it.

It's all just so damned awkward.

Velcro is a good idea. I've also heard of people using velcro to attach folders to the carry case, for stuff like the rule book and planet tokens.

I did see a guy with a hero tray and Velcro the other day and thought that was perfect for not forgetting the darn things!
