Only one successful break away roll is required to move away from all adjacent
opposing characters or other game effects
that may require break away from that square.
Let's break down the possible meanings...
1) "Only ONE (emphasis) successful break away roll is required to move away from ALL (emphasis) adjacent opposing characters...."
Meaning that whether you are adjacent to 1 or 100 characters you need to make only ONE break away roll.
This is my interpretation and the only reasonable one I can deduce.
2) "Only one successful break away roll is REQUIRED (emphasis) to move AWAY (emphasis) from ALL (emphasis) adjacent opposing characters..."
Here Required is still referring to the Roll, NOT the clause immediately following as you are implying. So the only reasonable interpretation is still the one above.
I understand HOW you are misreading the sentence. But you are misreading it, in my humble (but well substantiated) opinion.

aqhoffman- greatest post possibly ever
jtallday- Jon I wouldn't challenge you if I wasn't sure you are wrong cuz I don't have that kind of energy.

Thank you for stating things like a gentleman, it is as always appreciated.
I do understand that rpgambit and I were mistaken. You may note this (altho I may not have been fully clear) in my alternate example of a potential answer to normalview in post #10;
"what if you have opponents on your N,E,W,and S squares? Then you would have to break away thru an intersection."
so my misunderstanding has passed but again thank you for attempting to help in a truly helpful way, this is why I miss you in the rules forum.
I frankly can't think of anything to say to this that wouldn't come across as "aggressive" in your book... let's just say I think rep is pretty meaningless as to whether or not posts mean anything and leave it at that.
Sure makes me feel good about myself when I get some, though!
