It should be said that one of the teams that came fairly close to making it into the article was another X-couple from Wolverine and the X-Men in Toad and Husk. It didn't make the cut because at 167 points, they ended up being criminally under even after feats were added on (Entangle on Toad, Camouflage on Husk).
Mad coincidental, but my AvX Month 2 event this past Saturday was couples. Used the AvX Colossus with Shadowcat, Longshot & Dazzler. Didn't fair too well, but was fun.
I'll post my 400-point Valentine's Day force after our event on Thursday. It's a chance to use some characters from outside my usual cadre of favorites. Sadly, Star Trek ships are still not legal, otherwise I'd be playing a force with Captain Kirk and the USS Enterprise!
I'd actually considered the exact Green Arrow/Black Canary/Question/Huntress double-date force mentioned by snatreaper, but I've seen that lineup (with different characters) used before.
Here was my 400 point New 52! Valentine's Day theme:
125 TT 023 Red Hood
+6 ATA Red Hood and the Outlaws
94 DC10 007 Nightwing
83 SOG 044 Starfire
+6 ATA Red Hood and the Outlaws
72 SOG 045 Arsenal
+6 ATA Red Hood and the Outlaws
8 Black Light ring
400 points
This team did well enough to go 2-1. I cannot completely blame bad dice rolls for the loss, but they were absolutely horrible in that game. Even ignoring the missed attack rolls (including two critical misses), I never rolled above a 3 for any Leadership, Break Away or Relic rolls in that game.
The ATA was useful in this format, which favored either a tentpole (Superman, Supergirl were both faced in 2 separate games) or even-pointed figures (Black Panther and Scarlet Witch were on a single force.)
It was confirmed officially in X-Factor. Way back in their X-Force days, there had been some heavy subtext as to their relationship on their road trip.
