I am a bit surprised at the title that they have decided to go with for this product. I would think that "Dungeon & Dragons: Dragon Wing" would be a bit more "flavorful" and fit in with their Star Trek: Attack Wing theme. But maybe licensing is an issue.
And, with the D&D license, I hope that we will be seeing much more than simply "dragons." With the old Spelljammer line and a couple of other campaign settings that included flying (sailing) ships, I could definitely see these being added into the game. And typical dwarven stereotyping could see various different flying mechanical devices. Plus, there are more things with wings and flight than just dragons - Djinns, Pegasi, Chimera,Roc, etc.
trying to make D&D dragon thing fits the flightpath system seems as far fetched to me as trying to make star trek ships fit heroclix system. I totally see why they would put star trek ships in the starwars x-wing game engine and they did. I wasn't impressed on the contrary when they made the heroclix star trek ships with "super strenght" (loool) and now we will see strange dragons-riders enter the flightpath system...

well, not my thing, but enjoy it if you like it
I think it makes perfect sense.
Aerial Dragon combat should be dynamic, not static, and the FP system represents dynamic combat awesomely.
On a more serious note, I know nothing about the D&D universe, but I am optimistically watching this game. I might pick some of it up when it comes out. Dragons fighting just seems awesome. Then again. I can stand X-Wing because its so long between waves. Attack Wing grew very big, very fast. This D&D game seems to be doing the same.

Guys we should be getting some info next week. I believe (and not sure where I saw it) but there was mention of pics and details at Toyfair which I believe starts in a few days. We shall hopefully know something then so I can pitch this to the venue owner.

I won't be playing because reasons, but I'll be watching with interest. I imagine they'll probably use the same unique/generic system for the dragons, but it would probably be more interesting if they used with rider / without rider, with different abilities and upgrade slots for each.
It'll also be interesting to see how they handle close combat. Dragons don't just breathe fire!
