Blah, blah, blah. We really don't need to restart the same discussion again and derail the thread again. Suffice it to say your pro Wizkids and the blind booster model does not bother you in the slightest. I'm anti Wizkids and think there is no place for the blind model in attack wing. I wish to know exactly what I am buying and don't want to be stuck with 3 of the same ships because Wizkids decided they want to add blind boosters to the scene. No one is saying they don't want the ships or want their venues to forgo them. We can go round and round on this all day, but neither of us is going to agree with the other, so why bother?
I could do without the labeling on both sides.... but sure.
I wonder which ship Teri has for us today (she's doing them all week right?).
Edit: Yup,

Be sure to check back as the first 5 days of June will see the reveal of the 5 available boosters!

It is almost upon us! Are you prepared for the Quarmageddon?
I agree that Sakonna is the takeaway from here. I mentioned this earlier but the only other upgrade that adds weapon slots is an LE prize.
Torres (Voyager pack) allows a weapon & tech slot, but Sakonna is a great addition even if you don't use the extra weapon slot - one weapon & she's paid for.
It occurs to me that we need an Independent captain who can hijack other Factions' ships so that they become Independent for team-building purposes (or maybe even just Fed ships). OMG Thomas Riker would be perfect for this.

I pretty much agree that the idea of a retail blind booster is a crappy idea but the idea of it done in this format is kind of fun but I am hoping that people are sport enough to trade to those who need or want certain things. Maybe we will be lucky and like FI after the event is almost over they will "find" extra boosters so they can be purchased later when the dust clears.

Gah, how do I miss these things? I still think Sakonna is the best thing I'm looking at here.

When I saw the name "Hijack" that was what I hoped it would do...take a ship that had no shields or something and switch it with the current ship maybe. It might be too much to hope for though since that'd be a really powerful ability. "Oh your Borg Sphere lost its active shields? Yoink!"

You mean like Khan (Reliant) does? You can also add an Ind. Flagship and a ship becomes dual-faction (whatever and Ind.).

But yeah, if anyone can do it, it's Thomas Riker.
Oh, yeah, that would be too crazy for something in-game. I was just thinking if you wanted to build a fleet with a pirated Intrepid alongside a Maquis ship you could do it and staff it with Independent crew and weaponry and not have everything be cross-faction.

You could use Khan (Reliant) or an Independent Flagship card to achieve basically the same thing.
Yes, but I know there are venues where people have to play Faction pure and whatnot (or people who just want to), and that would make the Maquis considerably more formidable and easier to play. You could probably make him cheaper than Khan, too.

I play faction pure - but I also don't mind putting an Ind. Flagship on a ship to make it Ind. as well as it's original faction - that is in the rules (in the FAQ). If someone questions putting an Ind. captain on the Excelsior with an Ind. Flagship, just point them to the FAQ - it is official and can be done.
And while I have not heard of one player that actually spoke to their venue and asked them not to bring in the packs as that would be their preference, any player that had access to a store running the OP program could have requested (or at least added their vote) to not bring them in.
If you did that, or got voted down or some such that's unfortunate............but I'm sure there are many players who would be happy to trade/acquire a ship pack you are unsatisfied with.
FWIW, although I didn't ask my venue not to get them, I did let them know that I would prefer that we skipped them, and that if they introduced the blind ships I might not continue with OP games, pending more info on the ships.
From the looks of it, I'll be sitting these OP series out. I'm just not willing to spend the same amount of money as I would on a normal ship, without knowing what I'm getting and (from the looks of it) getting less.
I'm not in love with the idea of blind boxes in general, but if they appeared to be better value for money, say $10 apiece or were packaged like any retail ship (2 captains, average 5-6 upgrades, a scenario), and at least 3/5 appealed to me, then I'd probably go for it. WK could have made these worthwhile, they just decided not to.

For the most part I agree with you, but there may still be some cards and/or components we don't know about, doubtful, but a possibility. I think Wizkids took the easy way out and instead of making a great product that people felt was worth paying $15 for, they snuck it in through OP and required purchases. Of the two ships I have seen so far I would probably buy one Yeager and maybe one Raider and I will definitely be frustrated if/when I end up with more because of blind pulls.

Yeah, it's definitely a possibility, I just kind of doubt it since her previews showed us the same breakdown of only a few cards each. That, and her reviews of the LE's tend to be pretty comprehensive, if I recall correctly. I assume there will be a generic captain that she didn't bother showing, but I'm not holding my breath for any other upgrade cards, or a scenario card.
