I'm sure I'll get a second starter before too long, just wanted to start off with more variety than only X-Wings and basic TIEs. If I run into a situation where I need more dice, I can count up the results and re-roll, just like Attack Wing.
What are your thoughts on getting Imperial Aces before the normal TIE Interceptor? Like a second starter, I'm sure I'll be grabbing Imperial Aces sooner rather than later (I love the red interceptor!), but thought I'd start off with the normal one for a wider range in available pilot levels, and then graduate to the Aces. Had the same thought with Rebel Aces - probably get 1-2 of the normal A and B-Wings first.
Slave I sounds cool, not as keen on the Millenium Falcon, though. If I grabbed the Firespray, how would the Rebel Scum fare without a bigger ship of their own (at least until the Outrider comes out...)? Either way, probably going to stick to various TIEs for the first few Imperial purchases.
The Interceptor vs Aces pack is an interesting choice. The Interceptor pack has 2 generics that the Aces pack doesn't, the pilot skill 1 and pilot skill 3 pilot. But, the Aces pack has the generic Royal Guard Pilot, which is really good because it is a generic with pilot skill 6. It also doesn't help that the elite talents aren't great in the Interceptor pack. Whereas the Aces pack comes with a ton of great upgrades. Obviously, one of each is ideal for all the unique pilots. Honestly, I would start off with the Aces pack, just because of all the upgrades to really add a lot to your squads.
The A-wing and B-wing vs the Aces is a bit trickier, as the only differences in pilots are the 2 unique ones. Though, the Rebel Aces pack contains multiples of the various non-unique upgrades. So go ahead with at lease 1 of the A-wing and B-wing.

Firespray performs well against the Rebels. I've had it picked off once or twice because of bad positioning (or good positioning in the case of my opponents) because of it's Front and Back fire arcs (rather than the 360 the Falcon has). It's a great sculpt and looks awesome on displace, so I'd recommend it.
Also, Imperial Aces... Wow. Great deal if you can find it for $15-$20.
While a second starter used to be ideal for more dice and more ships, I'm actually of the opinion that a second starter is not as big of a deal anymore.
Now that there are 4 waves out, the only reason I'd seriously consider a second starter is if you are interested in running a tie swarm. As it is, you can build just fine with a starter and a few expansions.

That is very true, but having more dice is one of the easiest ways to speed up the game. You'll see. But as you note it's not required, just a very nice addition to the game.

That is a darn good question sir.
I don't think you can go wrong with the Interceptors....either one to start with gives you good stuff...........if I had to go with one I'd probably agree with Sithborg the upgrades in the Aces put it in front of the expansion pack.
For the Rebel version vs A&B combo......same thing. The one exception is the upgrade 'Push the Limit' in the A expansion....but if you're getting the Imperial Aces you'll have 2 of it already.

Slave 1 is fine. It'll bring no issues to either side.

It is almost upon us! Are you prepared for the Quarmageddon?
Cool, thanks for all the input, everyone! I'm settled on a starter and a B-Wing, just can't decide between a TIE Bomber or TIE Interceptor, or springing for the Aces now (First World Problems). I'm leaning Bomber...
Regarding the second starter, what it mostly comes down to for me is how many X-Wings/TIEs I want vs. how important the upgrades from the expansions are. Since I'm sure I'll want at least 3 X-Wings eventually, and Wedge (one of my favorite characters), the second starter + expansions makes sense. For the TIEs, dunno how often I'll actually put 5 of them in the same fleet, but at least it'll give me plenty of options.
Might get the X-Wing and TIE expansions sometime before the second starter, though, to add those options to my box, and then use the second starter down the line to fill things out. Whatever, that's all in the future - no need to worry too much about it now!

I don't think that is what he is looking at.

Oops, I did mean an Interceptor or a Bomber, although I hadn't considered both of them, as an alternative to the Aces, and that would be interesting, too.
I was leaning Bomber because I thought something a little less fragile would be a nice addition to the otherwise quite weak TIE fighters from the starter, and just because I love that ship design.

Honestly? I think the TIE Defender is one of the silliest-looking ships I've ever seen, and that's enough to keep me from wanting it. Shallow, I know, but I can't help myself. Maybe one day, after I have every other Imperial ship that I want.
