As a new player, i keep playing 300 point games (modern/gold), but i was wondering how many points you like the most and how many points are tournaments on your nearest store.
I think mines are 500.
As a fan of the characters, for me, 500 points is a solid build number allowing me to use the figures in my collection AND build a team around them. I shoot for 6 figures on a 500 point team.
300 is awful. If you don't go min/max you don't have a team. Its a struggle to get to 4 figures, again, if you choose pieces based on characters.
Sadly, the Fatal Five comes to over 600 points - so they are really tough to field as a unit.
When I judged, I did a lot of 500 point games as a result.
Visible Dials and Pushing Damage need to be optional. This is the way.
I like 300-500 PTs. Just enough in those areas where you can fit in a guy to make a team who may not be the best piece but you want to use him for theme or scenario and it won't hurt ya to much. Plus I think those point builds take more thought to find the pieces that will work together the best. I also enjoy different themes or scenarios. Ex classic comic cover where every character must be on the cover for your build. Not a fan of resources either and we don't play them often at my venue either.
600 is my favorite. Mostly because I like to dick around with the big point figures with my buddy.
Competitively, though? 400.
600 points allows you to be a little less critical about the figures you pick for your build. Its OK to use a 100 pt TK'er instead of grabbing an economical 50 pt figure out of your box.
400 pts really makes you build your force economically

I like them at 900 points. Use the highest point versions of all the new ones, and that's 864. Throw in two bystanders (Alfred pog, Skadi's warbot) and you're set. (Or you could even use a resource.)
Point values above 500 tend to let us play enough characters so we arent screwed if one guy gets toasted really early.
We usually always play 3 player games as well..
Though by setup, i thought you were gonna expand on game schematics (thats what we call it).. like all clix must have a visual similarity.. which we did once.. i chose redheads and the team was surprisingly fun..
My favorite for "normal" games is 600. That covers most pieces that anyone would want to play. I also love playing big crazy 1500+ games with lots of colossals and such.

Oh, i should have name the post how many points or something, my bad.

500 and 600 are the build total i like the most... but i can also play 400 or 800 with ease.
300 is not my thing, and more than 800 is very occasional (usually when playing huge figures like galactus or master mold)
Also my favorite set-up is Golden Age with "no tactics" OR completely going for a specific "scenario" (means teams, victory conditions and sometimes even powers or maps are altered by some creative home rules in order to "simulate" some comic book issue)
I'm currently working on a huge, progressive, new-player friendly serie of scenarios that can be played by two to four players... when i'm done i'll probably post them here on the realms...
I don't really have any friends that play, and I can rarely go to events, so I mostly play games against myself. As while I do like the epic 1000 point games, I find that I can squeeze in a 200 point game a lot quicker. That's usually just enough to get a hero and their sidekick or two.
