Seems like an arbitrary decision, and certainly not what you'd expect out of a 'head judge'. Sounds like it's time for a replacement, but the problem is that Wizkids is nepotistic and unfortunately only makes those Judge selections based on your proximity to the circle of friends they have in MD.
I was under the impression that this year was Necromagus' last Gencon as a head judge. This is just based on reports of last year's Gencon environment, WoL/Zombie trading issues, rumors and hearsay. The different tidbits of information seemed to add up.
I will say that from my perspective as a participant that I thought it was a focused effort by the staff and outside of passive judging, I am not sure I could have run an event of that huge scale any better myself without making some mistakes.

Having been there many times, I can honestly say that mistakes do happen. But you don't go out of your way to cause issues for people. You do your best to fix mistakes when they happen, not create whole new problems.
The level of incompetence from this individual is staggering.
There are 542,000 children in foster care. Talk to your local foster and adoptive agency. You could change a life.
When 2 friends/teammates play in a Swiss round, where they both know they need points to advance, even if they lose, they often play differently to some extent.
Usually it's just faster, sometimes it's more reckless. Most of the time it's not conscious behavior.
At least two sides to every story guys. This is just like every other "corrupt judge/venue" story. We don't even have half of it. Let's be reasonable. What if the judge was right? What if this wasn't the only suspected bit of collusion? What if member(s) of team majestix had admitted to collusion and this caused them to be suspect? What if.... Well you get my point. We have only a very little sliver of the story. Is it possible Necromagnus mate a horrible call and this player was screwed over horribly? Absolutely. Is it possible that Necromagnus made too lenient a call or the right call? Yes it is.
aqhoffman- greatest post possibly ever
jtallday- Jon I wouldn't challenge you if I wasn't sure you are wrong cuz I don't have that kind of energy.
So is there a hierarchy of judges? In the biggest event of the year, you'd think a single judge would not be able to adjust your victory points on a whim/suspicion, or threaten to DQ without proof.
Taking 5 minutes to confer with a "council" of fellow judges might've allowed for cooler heads to prevail and for everyone to participate in a fair tournament.
My H/W link does not reflect the wants for my collection, it is a list of figures that I already have, but still "want" to play.
If you keep listening to that heroclix round table, Necromagus says WK is figuring out what to do with him and he is probably going to play competively in Worlds next year. So just take out your frustration next year and knock him out of the running.

This is correct.
OP, I don't know you, nor am I accusing you of doing anything wrong. I was there at Worlds. I didn't qualify on Thursday or Friday, but I was standing around watching the final 32 on Saturday. People standing around were talking about Teams (yours was mentioned) and their tactics on playing in Worlds to get into the top 16. This strategy was mentioned by several people. One person would throw the game for the other, but would get the most points possible for each. Assuming the person who lost would win the following round, they should still make it into the top 16 being 1-1 with tons of points. After sheets were brought up, and the Judge made the decision (right or wrong) this flamed the already whispered fire of what people were talking about.
Like i said, I am not accusing you or your teammate of doing this. As a judge in my local venue, I have had a group of "friends" do this very thing to rig getting 1st or 2nd place. So, I know this is a "strategy". (And really, if you have to use this strategy to win, what kind of person are you anyway?) If I was the head judge I would have been somewhat suspicious; especially at this level of the game. If you guys weren't team mates, he may have not done anything. Who knows.
Like jonidschultz says, there are two sides. When I am standing there listening to other people say that Teams (even your team) may use this as a strategy, and the very thing happens first round, it does look suspicious. I may not agree with the judge's decision, but I do understand it.

The thing is, that's not the right call even if there was cheating going on.
Situation A: the players were not cheating and legitimately earned their points. The correct call is to leave things as they are.
Situation B: the players were cheating. The correct call is to disqualify them and not allow them to continue in the event.
I don't see how stripping them of points and allowing them to continue is the right call in any situation.

This right here.
A Judge enforces established rules. They don't make it up on the fly based on how he 'feels' like punishing them for a perception of collusion (since no collusion was actually determined).

Right. Exactly this.

Next time don't wear matching Tshirts. That will cut down on the collusion next time you guys play. Either that or collude with everyone to wear the same heroclix shirt or something.
