There are other benefits to using soaring. Hypersonic Speed, Charge and Running shot are all great for flyers to avoid grounded figures by cutting their range in half only to descend from soaring and attack with one of those powers. Anyway, I've done this recently and caught my opponents off guard with it so give it a shot and see if they can see it coming.
Another point to make is that if 2 soaring teammates are adjacent to each other and 1 has TK (i.e. Magneto), he can TK the teammate 10 squares in any direction on an outdoor map based on his LOF.
Using a charger/running shot piece with Mags for this play is another solid tactic.
Originally posted by lancelot what about barrier while in soaring. someone told me that you halve your range when throwing down a barrier.
but that TK tactic in soaring, i m sure the range of 10 still stands.
Someone told you wrong. DrGandalf's response:
"1. A soaring character that wants to create a barrier can start it within his normal range, just like any other figure using a barrier. (Per the existing rules)
2. Barriers are always created at the level of the square that they're placed on, grounded or elevated. (There is no such thing as a soaring barrier. There is no terrain at the soaring level of flight.)"
And the TK range is still 10 for moving another soarer. Keep in mind that the character can't be moved down to hovering as that can only be done during that character's move.
