I tried to determine this before. Really, the only way to promote is to put something in your sig that makes people interested. I, too, wish there was a better way. Typhon wants the site to remain dedicated to Heroclix for the most part. I think he thinks we're a bunch of hooligans. I even tried to get an article on the main page to attract attention. No deal. If someone wants to make another attempt at that, I say go for it.
To be fair, we all do have a bar under our avatar showing a couple of enforcers standing around.
Typhon shot down the front page article? I feel like we might make a pretty good case based on how many mafia players are donors (gotta have that bigger PM box).
to be honest, I don't think typhon cares about this little nook :/
I had to put a public petition up to convince him to make us a frakking clan. He's all but told me he doesn't care about this section unless we can prove that we help support the site financially.

What happened to his claims of increased traffic and ad revenue being more valuable than donations?
That being said, my damn inbox is at 96% again. Hoping to get through the current two games before I have to clean it out...

I'm at 93%, so I should probably clean it before starting All Stars at least. Fortunately a lot of the sent messages is old infractions that I don't really need to save.

I noticed the mafia section because I like other threads in the popular culture section.
One day I clicked on it and read through the games and was hooked.
Unfortunately this also doesn't help you get new people in the game

I wonder how many site moderators have been active mafia community members in the past. My gut feeling is it's a pretty good number.
I can't remember how I found the Mafia forum, but I remember my first game (after a quick search through the forum). It was a TMNT99 Justice League game. No idea what I was doing/getting myself into in that game. Wow.

Me, K-Ness and KitsuShel off the top of my head. And maybe Frontman.

Frontman definitely played. When I ran my What If/Elseworlds of the Realms game with Goodman (whatever happened to him?), there was a character based off of Frontman named Backman. He was Pacman, but he moved backwards, leaving a trail of pellets behind him.
