I've often half-assumed that one of the reasons we are getting two DC sets in a row is the hope on Wizkids part that those DC sets will act as a bit of a palate cleanse between the Age of Ultron summer and the Civil War summer. In my head, I imagine them hoping that after two DC sets, we'll all be frothing at the mouth for more Marvel so badly that we won't mind getting more of what we just got last summer.

I'm with most of you in feeling like that won't quite be enough time to make me want more Avengers. To balance that out, I'm optimistic that even in a set with a tired theme, Wizkids will find some interesting folks to include.

In a separate tangent, I will once again bemoan the extent to which movies and TV shows drive every Marvel set we get. If Civil War weren't coming out next summer, Avengers wouldn't be shoved down our throat this soon after the Age of Ultron.

If it is an X-men themed set, I already have my set list guess. Among The X-Students and Gen X members that I want.. I will be surprised if they don't add:

Some of the "Wolverines"

Original 5 X-men (Time displaced)

Beast with Inhumans Keyword

Kitty Pryde StarLord with Guardians of the Galaxy Keyword

Pixie debut with "A-Force"

And 1980's Cyclops for my DoFP team.

Also a Blob that can be carried or TK'ed by his team mates for once.

Lastly, a Rogue that can absorb range when she outwits finally (also the 1980's look for my DoFP team).

I am slowly completing my 1985 Secret Wars set.

My money is on an Age of Apocalypse/Apocalypse theme for the X-Men Set (if it happens) to tie in with the new X-Men Movie. It should be great.

What I would really like though is an Inferno based Set which could give us some much needed remakes (N'starith, Goblin Queen, Vertigo, Harpoon, etc.) and plenty of new characters (an actual Darkchild Illyana, Belasco, S'ym, most of the other Marauders, etc.). But that's me...

Since I guess we're not getting the Spider-Man set I was hoping for, this Inferno based set would be my vote.

Think we might get a new Iron Armor Spider-Man out of this Civil War set? Think he will be not impossible to get this time?



Also, did I hear someone mention Skurge?! Hecka need a Thor set and a new Skurge would be the tits. Hopefully he's rocking some guns like his battle of Gjallerbru. I could see him making a good Prime, one being the classic Skurge and the other being the Gjallerbru Skurge. That'd be sick!

I don't think that they'll make a FF set. Marvel already cancelled the comic. It seems to me that Marvel is not going to invest in the FF until they have the movie rights. I would love to see one though.

Judging by the current run of releases, the next Marvel set seems likely to be Superman and the Avengers.

Or how about a combination of the two.

We could call it "What If? The Squadron Supreme weren't all Prime figures?"

That would make a TON of sense, however I could see it not happening too. Wizkids seems to be pretty unpredictible. For example, I thought for sure that after GOTG the next Marvel set would have chases that are "Hero Zombies" themed. To back up that theory also was the fact that the team base didn't say Villian Zombies... it just was titled Zombies. But, then they came out with two more Marvel sets that did'nt feature the "Hero Zombies" that I would've sworn were coming. Wizkids can be pretty unpredictible.

That's not unpredictable. Marvel (and by extension Wizkids) cannot make any hero zombie merchandise. They can only make villains...

Anything but avengers at this point would be nice. We've seen a dramatic drop in players over the last year due to this. In my area at least there aren't too many DC fans and having the age of ultron followed by avengers assemble and nick fury is killing our scene.

The best you'll get is a comic-based Apocalypse set around the same time as the movie, similar to Days of Future Past.

Which I doubt.

A comic based set would be my preference. Especially with the film Apocalypse looking like Ivan Ooze's long lost brother.
