Okay, I finished the season. I would say it's a good season and fine way to restart the series, but it's definitely got some flaws. Primarily the new rapid-fire riffing that occurs in a bunch of the episodes, where there's almost no time to breathe between jokes.
I get that this happened because they had so many writers and also because they probably think the newer audience has too short an attention span to allow for a slower pacing. Ordinarily, I wouldn't blame them since they're kinda right, but it's still a bit off-putting.
The newfound mobility for the Bots during the theater segments is also equally off-putting. Now I remember a few sight gags done in the theater here and there, but this was excessive at times. Like it was done for the sake of using whatever new technology that allowed them to do it.
Aside from those, there's still a lot to love. The choices of these bad films are superb, the guest appearances were terrific and the "Every Country Has a Monster" song is really catchy. Also, Patton absolutely crushed it. But I'm always sort of more partial to the henchmen than the Mads.
