You can't use Doc Samson's speed power to mind control Superman because he's not equal to or lesser points than Doc. Superman is 100 points, and Doc Samson is only 70.

PSYCHOANALYZATION: Doc Samson can use Mind Control with a range of 6. He may use it to target a single friendly character of equal or less points. If he does and hits, after actions resolve deal that friendly target 1 penetrating damage.

Also note: This combo would NOT give Doc's keywords to Superman. Superman says the friendly character must POSSES the power top dial. Doc Samson CAN USE Mind Control. Not the same thing.

Stick proteus on this guy and it gets insane. With his control tokens removed, you get a 12/12/20/5 8 range beast with indomintable, HSS, and SS for only 135 pts. At 20 def, chances are your opponent isn't hitting that MC on supes either.

I prefer using this Superman with Hive, although Malice and a suitable Professor X (with X-Men Blue ATA) work very well on an X-Men themed team.
