I got back from seeing it tonight and posted my comments/criticism. And on the drive home, I really thought about what the rating was going to amount to and exactly how low it was going to be. I thought about going for a three or a four, saying to myself that "maybe I should be nice". But then I realized... Why? This movie wasn't nice to me as I was the one sitting through this mess. So hell with it. 2/10. Only reason it wasn't one was because of Wonder Woman.

It's kinda funny that with every single negative review I've read, they always say that the only good part of the movie was Wonder Woman.
The worst Superhero adaptation into a movie I've ever seen.
Disclaimer I'm a HUGE Bruce Timm Animated DCU fan. That having been said I'm fine with variations on character interpretations, but for me to like new DC they need to have some commonalities with the DCAU, or I won't like them (though still be higher then a 1/10... more like a 3-5/10)
All the "heroes" in this film were selfish, brutal, and violent people. Not a single one of them showed any compassion or care for their fellow man or woman. This film particularly hated Superman, thought Batman was cool while completely missing the key points of the character (out thinking rather then out beating (or shooting in this case) his foes and that he doesn't kill (again this film rather excessively with large calibur weapons)), and still managed to ruin Wonder Woman by the end (with her whole "I've stayed away from [and left] humanity [to suffer in my absence] for a 100 years" line).
The key moment is the Bat/Sup fight. Sups needing Bats help, goes from asking for it to instantly smashing Bat through the WHOLE building. Bats meanwhile was going to savagely impale Sups through the heart with a spear HAD their mothers not shared the same name... I'm supposed to cheer for and side with these guys?!?
However the logical alternative Lex Luthor was so over the top, and frankly just a Joker stand in, there was no concrete characters to connect to. The Luthor stuff was laughably bad as there is no way anyone would take him seriously in this "serious" universe. That alone allow him access to the top secret alien ship base. He clearly was mentally unstable.
I could write a book on how bad this film was to its heroes.
I'm not paying to watch anymore of the DC films in this current incarnation.
Which makes me sad. I'm loving the Marvel films (Age of Ultron just went from okay to amazing... in particular how the Avengers spend considerable time JUST saving people rather then smashing everything in sight) but at heart I AM a DC fan. I want some DC movies now please...

A couple of weeks ago I was mentioning to a friend, who is not a comic geek at all, that I was going to see BvS. He told me that he doesn't ever pay to watch a DC movie, except maybe to rent it at home. Not even the Nolan Batman movies were worth going out to watch. He said they were good but that he's glad he only rented them and watched them once.
The Marvel movies, on the other hand, he really likes and will take his family to go see them, and he'll rent them and watch them again. I didn't have time to ask him to elaborate on the difference, etc, on why he likes one and not the other.

Your buddy sounds like a smart guy
It is too bad he didn't like the Nolan Batman films enough to see them in theatres (I can understand not taking younger kids on the family front though).
I loved the first two (Rises, at the time, didn't do it for me. Batman never won a fight... I will be giving it another chance after BvS though :P)

I did not like Dark Knight Rises. I saw it once and won't ever watch it again. The Clix set was better than the movie. Only good thing about it was Talia al Gul.
Batman Begins and Dark Knight, on the other hand, were excellent. I have both on DVD and have watched them each several times, and have recommended them to friends.
I have seen this twice now...once with friends, once with my daughter.
I'd say some flaws jumped out at me more the second time. But overall...a solid C if I'm grading it...so....7/10 for me. I think going forward, the DC flicks stand a chance of being much better...I think they tried to lay so much groundwork here it hurt this movie, but could help the other movies going forward (hopefully).
I loved MOS for the detail and for the Kryptonian history, and even gave Green Lantern a pass just because I was so darn happy that SOMETHING about GL had been put on modern film. GL was bad (4/10 I guess) but it was something, so I didn't complain. I began reading DC comics around 1960 and it never occurred to me that I would live to see all the heroes on the big screen. For me its a gift to have all the movies, including both DC and Marvel, available.
So I have a free day, go work out in the morning, and go see Dawn of Justice in the afternoon (yes, I get the senior discount). The ideas in the movie are great, the execution not so much.
1- Great idea that Batman is worried about the potential misuse of power by Superman and that Superman distrusts this dark vigilante. No surprise even that Batman blames Sups for the massive destruction from MOS. But Batman had been around a while, and his motives couldn't have been a complete mystery to a reporter from the Daily Planet who has some access to news reports. Pretty stupid to me that the World's Greatest Detective and the Kryptonian upholder of truth couldn't figure out a bit more about each other before spending so much of the movie trying to beat the snot out of each other, without a decent conversation. A rocky start is to be expected, but give me a break. Even in a dark movie, these are still supposed to be heroes. It took "wow, his mother's name is Martha also" for them to work together.
2- I had looked forward to Doomsday in movie form, and couldn't believe that a true Kryptonian destroyer of worlds was reduced to a science experiment defeated by a kryptonite spear. A creature that had died a thousand times in other publications, becoming stronger with each death, got poked in the chest and defeated. Hurray for Lex's new creature. May be my biggest disappointment that Doomsday was wasted.
3- A new take on a younger Lex was interesting. But did his evil plot have to be promoting a wrestling match? Even Gene Hackman was going to gain some new beachfront property in his previous Lex incarnation. Mr. Hackman's motive was as funny as Dr. Evil holding the world hostage for "one MILLION dollars", but at least it wasn't quite as pointless as Lex's plans in Dawn of Justice.
4- It seems pretty clear that this movie was really just a platform to launch the DC universe, and was mostly bang bang, with a small piece of really great ideas executed poorly.
5- Thankfully Wonder Woman was introduced, as we saw the first meeting of the Trinity. And it was near enough to the movie's end to take some of the sting out of most of the rest of the movie. Previews of the other Justice League members were also welcome.
I am glad I saw the movie, and will probably even eventually buy it just because I am so diehard about any superhero movie. And I really hope all JL movies coming up make a lot more sense than this one did. But I have to admit that this one is pretty terrible.
I would have to rate Dawn of Justice at 2/10. No one is more surprised than me.
