Honestly, for me that is part of the appeal. I almost have a harder time remembering and less interest in LCGs than I do CCGs. I guess, for me, part of the appeal is the hunt and ultimately I just love trading and whatnot. To each their own? :-)
I was interested when I first heard the announcement about it (FFG makes some solid games and its Star Wars!), but then I saw they adopted a WK-like blind booster and rarity scheme.
So nope, not touching it.
The rarity scheme is a bit more forgiving for Destiny, IMHO. Getting a rare in each pack means you are usually getting something useful and the common/uncommons are needed to build out your deck.
My only complaint is that they chose odd rares to include in the starters that also appear in boosters. BB-8 and Rey's staff should have been starer only and Finn and Force Throw should have appeared in boosters. Granted, the distribution of the starters "forced" me to buy two of the Rey one so I guess marketing knew what they were doing.
I jumped in with both feet this past Tuesday. I bought both starters and a case. I was then disappointed with the distribution, but I made 4 decks and went to the gaming store and played 2 games there tonight at open gaming. I loved it too much. The gameplay is just solid. Fantasy Flight have my vote for Game company of the year.
I did pick up a whole box while I was there tonight as well.
I have 1 Luke, 2 Han, 1 Jabba, 1 Poe.
I am looking to trade for another Luke.
Now, after trading for a Qui-gon, I am only missing Qui-gon (dice #2) and 2 Padawans (I have 0). I have an extra Grievous, and will probably sell or trade the Force Choke, Jabba, and 2 crime lord cards I got.
I played a deck of Han/Leia and destroyed (I pulled Millenium Falcon on turn 1).
Then I played a hodgepodge of Rey, Amidala, and Ackbar. I played against Darth Vader and Kylo. They killed Rey pretty quick, but then I stalled them out (with the help of Diplomatic immunity and some scouting) and won because I decked them. (If you run out of cards in your deck and in your hand, you lose at the end of the turn).
After watching a few videos I bought both starters and 2 booster packs today. Got Renn's Saber and a Black One X-Wing looking support. They both look pretty cool.
Rules question: There's a card that let's you remove opponent's dice. Does this remove them for that whole round or just remove them from being active in which they could reroll them on their next turn?

Removed due go back onto the associated card. So unless they have a way to ready an exhausted card, that die will be useless until the next round.
I haven't gotten my hands on any boosters yet, sadly, but I got both starters and have played 3 games with that against 2 different opponents. I can't help but feel the starters are not quite balanced, though. Rey at 1 die brings the points closer, but seems to be at a big disadvantage due to the lack of dice, but Rey at 2 dice seems WAY too potent for the Kylo Ren to take. I'm guessing it levels off some once you start really customizing?
Playing the elite versions of Rey/Kylo is really cost-effective
I think Kylo vs Rey at both their point values is fine, it feels more balanced once the Kylo player knows the game better, and also obviously once you can build with your own cards.
So far I've gone to three tournaments and had a few home games. Went 4-0 at a game last night with Elite Jango Elite Veers... last week Elite Kylo and two sisters and went 3-0.
I'm LOCING this game there are such surprises around each time you play. I wish I still had the same feeling about playing HC.
This game has taken off like crazy around here. I'm hoping the shortage of product doesn't harm the community of those wanting to get into the game.
Which venues are running events down there? We only have a couple people buying product for the game here in Lima and most of them are mostly sit at home and play with themselves types.
