I really like that Widow! Feels very appropriate to what Natasha does, and my God are we overdue for a gray-suit Widow 'Clix. Seriously, has she ever been Clix'd in her short-hair-gray-suit look? That was one of the rare 1990s Avengers designs that really worked well.
ASK ME ONCE I’LL ANSWER TWICE JUST WHAT I KNOW I’LL TELL BECAUSE I WANNA!
SOUND DEVICE AND LOTS OF ICE I'LL SPELL MY NAME OUT LOUD BECAUSE I WANNA!
Good looking Black Widow dial. For the most part nothing exceptional about the design, it is a solid and appropriate BW. Then there's the remarkable Sabotage trait, and instantly this dial separates itself from the rest. I love novel effects. Nicely done.
Very slick design here, my friend, very slick. That is really going to tick some people off at the most inopportune time (for them at least.) By my research, in Modern Age, that would affect roughly 65 current Heroclix designs and a whopping 213 in Golden Age. In particular because many of those "One per game" powers are related to some kind of buff when said character is KO'd, this , just brutal (as it should be.)
As for the layout and that sweet , well done and deceptively potent. I like how this design is just jam packed with some of the things we've seen a decline in (I suppose to accommodate more lower cost/streamlined designs) like Indomitable and Improved Movement. What I could see really irking your opponent (among many things) is that she's basically got Shape Change her entire dial, save click 4. She's going to be hard to hit and take down, and that's how the Widow should be

I know, right? I grew up with short-haired grey suit leader of the avengers nat and definitely had a thing for her way before it was cool. Then, it didn't hurt that she made me think of linda evangelista
it's weird looking at her many clix incarnations and seeing only the catsuit. Granted, much of her dials are movieclix, but you'd think they'd opt for more costume diversity just to break the mold

Glad that her sabotage (fittingly) sneaks in on the design to ruin someone's day. I thought it'd be a cool way to scuttle a strategy, and nothing said a lynchin design to me more than opg effects, and how interfering with it would go a long way towards feeling like she's done some subversive prep before the fight started

And not to overplayed my hand, but there'll be more than a few opg effects in this set, making 001 vital in "sealed." Let's just say she'll be murder against the chase theme .
Sabotage aside, I wanted and on her dial both, those bells and whistles to set off a fairly straightforward dial otherwise to highlight her training and expertise. The rookie dial, while soft, has some decent potential even beyond tie up as a ps harasser. The exp has that "just a taste" beyond vanilla I spoke of while the vet has a lot more tricky bits. Her version of the Champions is a nod to her being the team's leader without tying up her track. And of course, another avengers ta that would actually get use, especially on the rookie.
Her sp has a big payoff but nothing you can rely on, fortunately in most circumstances your opponent would already be up against her due to stealth so that ew can land it's mark
I love both your Champions......who are in a Contest of Champions set!
I also have to say I am so happy to finally get to see Sabra! Yippy! I've always liked her and I can't wait to see how you stat her and we finally get original Box too!
As a huge Alpha Flight fan I approve of not only Box but all the Alpha & Omega flight members......and Wendigo!.....and Aquarian!...and El Aguila!
I am looking forward to all the Bronze age goodness and Beta Ray Bill!.....& Viv!
You mite say that I like your set list.

(+5)Defenders Together: Once per turn for all characters with this trait, if a character uses the Defenders team ability to replace its defense value with Angel's, reduce the attacker's range by -1. If the attack is no longer legal, it resolves immediately. Champions: Whenever an opposing character is KO'd, friendly characters with the Champions keyword can move 1 square.
Avian Aerialist
Mutant Massacre
The Avenging Angel
Wingspan Archangel: STOP. When this click is first revealed, if Angel is adjacent to a friendly character, deal them 1 click of penetrating damage and replace this character with a character named Archangel 100 points or less on click number 3.

It's easy to forget that Angel was not just an X-Men. This dial takes advantage of that with his wild card TA and traits. I like the choice of HSS, the toughness is an unusual choice, but I like it. The Arch-Angel click is even more unexpected, and I'll reserve my full approval until I've seen more of the set.
I've always been a fan of the 'I'm-just-a-guy-with-wings' version of Angel in comics. I'm think you're design does him well.

awesome, I hope I deliver on all those dials
but it'd be great to see them in clix and I think this event would make an awesome launching point for a set
just ignore contest of champions ii

yeah for this take I wanted to obviously use the champions mechanic, but I also thought it'd be a shame to let core members of the new defenders come and go without their own take on the defenders shared , so making it optional felt the best way to complement the wildcard ta.
warren's take on both s is to focus on mobility for the team in hopefully fun ways. while he was transformed to archangel thru his x-factor run and neither of the teams in his s, I thought it might make a nice nod to his xteam status, too, even if it doesn't fit the era so much. I found it interesting there's never been a warren that transforms and thought i'd have a go at it. and that end dial weak click would get some extended play via the xmen ta if you didn't want to swap him out
This set is superb so far. Every dial is packed with designs that are simple, clean, and effective on the surface, but with game-changing traits and really unique, fun mechanics. Can't wait for more!
I particularly love Natasha; the Gray Suit is a favorite of mine thanks to M:AA, and I love the option of running her as a 90 point leader or a more affordable harasser (a role I associate her with more).
Really like this idea for a set and the way you worked the Champions into the set as a theme team.
thanks, slade. it'd be just too much of a waste not to include the champions in a set so named
it's also given me the opportunity to design dials for lots of old school characters and old school versions of characters. I was having so many flashbacks to the official handbook of the marvel universe while working on this

I wanted to give nat some rep. after all, she ran the champs and the avengers this is actually my first black widow dial. i'd previously made s with hawkeye and daredevil, but this was my first go at her solo
This has to be the most unique take we've seen on Warren in Heroclix, by far I mean, it's not even about the Dial itself, when "on paper" you look at it, you're like, "cool, I love me some Hypersonic and the 18 Toughness ain't shabby." But then you read the 2 and that's where it gets interesting.
The optional Defenders Together not only extends the functionality of the Defenders TA (which already loves that opening 18 defense,) but then incorporates a unique combat value nerf we don't see very often in the game. I'd like to see how this one plays out in play testing as it could really piss your opponent off
I see that although there will be "shared" , that doesn't mean they'll be the same. Awesome. Love this version of the Champions , although you know me, I would just go for Sidestep instead of 1 square
Lastly, the ability to replace him with say my favorite OG Archangel from GSX? Perfect finishing touch!
Nice piece, my friend. Although we've gotten our fair share of Angel (and a few Archangels) in Heroclix, nothing has been as unique as this take ...

(+5)Defenders Together: Once per turn for all characters with this trait, if a character uses the Defenders team ability to replace its defense value with Iceman's, after actions resolve give the attacker an action token. Champions: Whenever an opposing character is KO'd, friendly characters with the Champions keyword can counter a speed power on an opposing character within range and line of fire until the start of your next turn. Ice Slide: Iceman can use Running Shot. After actions resolve, he can use Barrier as a free action, but can only place blocking terrain in squares he moved through.

Freeze Frame Omega Level Mutant: Iceman can use Willpower. When attacking, he deals his printed damage value to hit characters with 1 or more action tokens instead of normal damage.
