Thor hailed Captain Marvel as they faced the Monitors. Thor considered C.M. a friend and comrade in arms by now. He was less familiar with Hal Jordan and had not met the Spectre at all but was game to fight alongside them to stop the rogue Monitors.

They closed on the Monitors.

The Mole Man was trying to be the little General in all this but the arrival of the Monitors unnerved him and after the Spectre saved him from being slain by one of the Monitors he called for an end to the fighting against the heroes and ordered everyone to turn their attention on the danger of the invading Monitors instead.

Rocky was choking out Ace with a malevolent Calypso gleefully intent on watching a friend kill another friend. She was so intent on enjoying this grisly scene that Red easily slipped up behind her and crushed the doll she was holding that enabled her to control Rocky.

Rocky finally relaxed his hold on Ace and got up sheepishly, ashamed that he very nearly murdered one of his best friends.

Ace rolled over coughing, trying to recover his breath.

Red tied Calypso up and removed all her trinkets she used to perform her magic. He gagged her for good measure, noting that Calypso's glare meant that he had just made an implacable enemy. He had better be on his guard from now on.

The Mad Thinker, Diablo and the Frightful Four were not enthusiastic about ceasing hostilities but when a Monitor successfully disintegrated She-Thing they sobered up and realized the Monitors were a true threat and turned to deal with them.

Cave Carson and his team made fast tracks out of there, heading for the surface.

The Sea Devils and Dolphin knew they were out of their league against the other threats so they retreated, using the underground streams and rivers by which they came. Animal Man and Congorilla decided to stay along with Prof Haley, who was worried about his Challenger allies.

Blue Beetle also headed back to see if he could be of help on Monster Isle.

Eventually the Monitors fell to the combined powers of those against them.

The Spectre punished the Monitor who slew She-Thing in his own grisly manner, causing the Monitor to melt in a pool of flesh and blood.

Thor saw this and marked the Spectre as a foe for sometime in the future.

The rest of the Monitors were rounded up and turned over to the Guardians of the Galaxy to hold as prisoners.

A truce was agreed between the Mole Man and the heroes and the Mole Man was forced to agree to leave Cave Carson be in the future and allow him to continue his research.

Thor confronted Allfather Odin and protested the behavior of the Spectre at the confrontation with the Monitors and demanded an audience with the Phantom Stranger, who had selected the Spectre as his champion in the confrontation with the Monitors.

The Phantom Stranger responded and listened to Thor's grievances.

"All I can tell you, is that the Spectre is the Vengeance of the Lord personified. I cannot stop him if he passes judgement."

Thor was not mollified by that, but there was nothing he could do.

As they returned the heroes held a vigil for She-Thing. Afterwards the Fantastic Four became acquainted with the Challengers of the Unknown and they made an agreement to work together in the future in the name of science.

All right. I'm going to wrap this up for better or worse. I justrealized I had put the Leader and the Puppet Master with the Mole Man's team after they had escaped Darkseid a while back, so now I've got to decide what they're up to now since I don't have them hanging with the Mole Man.

Any way. Next up is the Captain America set. Plenty of cool villains, only a few cool heroes joining the party.
