I know you put a lot of time and effort into this, which is cool, and I love that you seem to choose DC characters just as much as Marvel characters to look at, but I have to say that the premise/methodology you are using is not very good in this particular case, and in much of this article series as a whole.
----------------
Here is what I get from reading this:
"Let's pick a fun piece from awhile ago and see if it holds up in min/max competition today."
"Hmm.... let's make up a few random matchups and I will play through them, even if I am not familiar with the characters."
"Gee, it doesn't hold up against modern min-max pieces because of power creep." [Insert collective sarcastic shock and surprise from readers, especially when you are not familiar with the characters]
"Guess the piece kind of stinks then. Gee, I wish they would make a modern min/max play worthy version of it..."
-----------
This is a completely predictable tired cliche of a take. How is this edifying or instructive or interesting in any way?
I see that one of your other subjects was WoS Nightcrawler. Perhaps if you are going to put older figures up against modern min/max play figures, you would be better off choosing massively undercosted figs from the past to fit your premise better.
If you are going to take a look at past fun figures, get creative and see what feats, teammates, etc. and such could get the most out of them. I also read the article in which you featured the JLFF Wonder Woman. It follows this Beast Boy article's path in many ways. Commenters there noted that you missed the idea of using that WW with BM Big Barda, which can still give her impact today.
I respect the idea and the great effort you are putting into these articles, but the premise should really shift to either --
Can old undercosted pieces still hold their own against modern min/max figs today?
and/or
How can we be creative to get the most out of older fun/cool pieces? [jimmyboy often has a wealth of these ideas in figure comments or threads around the site.]
Respect for your time and efforts. Just giving some feedback in hopes this article series can improve.
