Can you actually use BCF with exploit? Their wording makes it seem like you can't.

Does she have to place a Smoke Cloud marker in the square she occupies in order to move for free?
Those questions aside Phantasm is, imo, one of the best animated movies ever. I remember as a kid the Phantasm scared the hell out of me. The whole BTAS set was a must have for me because that show and the X-men animated series were what I grew up watching and got me into everything comic related.
Yes on both counts. BCF triggers on a CLOSE action, but it is not a CLOSE action in itself. That means it will work on a normal CLOSE, Charge, and Exploit Weakness just fine. Also, the squares you move through counts the square in which you started, so to move her 4 squares for free, you'll only have one spare smoke cloud. 1 for the starting square, 4 for the movement, that leaves your 6th to go somewhere. On the plus side, your smoke doesn't have to be in clear terrain, so you can fog up the forest.
Non-binary. Please refer to me in "they/them" pronouns. Thank you.
One note: Assassin first appeared in the Assassin's Creed set, in October 2012. Streets was December 2012. Also notable, it was initially a Named keyword, it wasn't in the list. Then WK decided to bring it to DC with the Assassin's team pack with Lady Shiva, Deathstroke and David Cain
Also, for Assassin's, even though it breaks theme, you gotta have Black Mask from the Arkham Origins set...
Contrary to popular belief, I do know what I'm doing

You are correct! I always forget about that set because I never bought any of it.

Thank you for answering this. Beat me to it!

Great read as usual. I hadn't known she ever came back in the tie-in comics!
I love the "Your Angel of Death Awaits" trait; it very vividly captures that specific moment from the film where Phantasm is approaching through the smoke and it's pushed away as if intimidated by her presence. Great flavor. Only "problem" with it is the four-range limit and that she doesn't get to leave a marker in the space where she ends her move. I guess you could play tricks with diagonal line of fire, but...

Either I don't understand what you're getting at or I don't understand my own dial! BOTH are possible!
I think a four range smoke cloud is just fine in this character's case and I don't know why she wouldn't get to leave a smoke cloud marker in the square that she ends her move (Unless you're saying that she couldn't move up eight squares with her full movement and still be within the safety of Smoke Cloud)

To my knowledge, Phantasm never actually appeared in Batman Beyond (I can't speak for the comics). She appeared in a "flashback" (considering the episode is way in the future) for Justice League (or JLU, I'm not sure) in what was supposed to be its final episode. Apparently the Watchtower Database is adamant about not spoiling the episode even to this day, so whatever, I won't go into exactly what happens, but it was effectively just a cameo.

I don't personally know, but I was of the understanding that it was indeed in the comics

While by screen time it was a cameo, in story it was a crucial character moment, and added immensely to the story and theme. That single detail added SO much. That whole JLU season is one the best seasons of TV ever produced, and this is one of the reasons. Using their continuity just the right amount
I was excited that this figure was made, excited to get one, and then never used it. I was just lamenting that fact earlier with some pals. A great overview of the character. Nice Assassins build too!
