I went to a Minor League Baseball game over the weekend. Havent been to one since I was a kid. Back then, it was just fun trying to catch foul balls. I never really gave a turd about the games themselves.

Saturday I tried to watch this. 1st inning, a pop fly went to left/center field. The two outfielders ran like hell, then both stopped and let it hit the ground. Both looked at eachother like "I thought you were gonna catch it".

Then a few minutes later, the batter swings at a pitch and the bat goes flying into the net. Probably 20 feet behind him. Didnt connect with the ball of course.

I left after the 2nd inning. Dont even care who won. Minor league baseball is ridiculously bad. Im not sure how they sell tickets. (I went free for a company picnic at the game).

Minor League and Independent League games are not up to The Show, but they are trying. Palm Springs has a pretty good team and we go once or twice during June and July. Depends on the teams and players. We were in Martha's Vineyard this summer and totally loved the experience.

So yesterday we had Football!!! Even though it wasnt so exciting. Football is back! In a form no one truly enjoys. But it will get you excited for the start of the season.

I was going play by play so.It was even less entertaining. That game was sluggish. Matt Schaub was trash, Drew Lock had a rough start, and the Broncos first round TE had 1 reception for seven yards.... But Kurt Bennett was good; I hope he gets second string over Schaub. But football is back baby!

Red Sox battle Yankees this weekend, but we got trounced by the Rays the last few days. I think it will be Yankees taking the division and TB getting one of the wildcard spots. Red Sox needed to get pitching during the trades, but blew their opportunity relying on current players who aren't up to World Series Champions standards this season.

NCAA has opened up the ability of student-athletes to profit from their likeness. That is huge and awesome for students that earn so much money for their college and the NCAA as a whole.

About time, because those good NCAA Division 1 teams pull big money for their colleges. Players should be able to get a percentage of that, but maybe they should wait until their college days are over to collect it. If you are paid for your services, then you can't be in the Olympics, but that rule has changed too when we had our Professional basketball players competing.
Congrats to Washington Nationals winning thr World Series last night. Great series to watch. All visiting teams won.

Yes, a big loss. He would've been a great ambassador for the game in his retirement and so much more he wanted to do. He was a great player to root against since I'm a Celtics fan, but this was a tragic loss to L.A. and the whole basketball community. Sorry for your loss and prayers and condolences to family, friends, and all affected by this tragedy.

last time this thread got bumped we mourned the loss of a legend. now with the NBA season being suspended indefinitely due to one of its players testing positive for COVID-19, this is shocking in its own right. wonder what type of ripple effect this could have.

There are a lot of takeaways from this pandemic. We really were not ready for something on this scale. Hopefully, we can learn from this event and move forward better than we were.

If what I'm hearing is true and Mitchell doesn't want to play with Gobert because of this, I'd gladly have the Knick take Mitchell for Knox and Randle or something like that. I've grown attached to Robinson aka the Blockness Monster.

I am very much looking forward to the digital draft. Here's to hoping the Sehawks take one of the top running backs. I like Penny, but he's coming off an ACL and he's likely going to start on PUP and Carson is solid, but he's in a contract year and he's had his injuries.
