Not really. Used in an Insect Deck, LV. 7 already rocks. Remember, Insects thrive by limiting opponent's options (DNA Surgery + Insect Barrier; Needle Worm; Ojama Trio etc.), so bringing out the higher levels with their effect shouldn't be too difficult.
Besides, like waldo said, just bring out LV. 5 - which already gives you mucho field presence with 2300 ATK - and let it level up via its effect.
These things really could be godly in an Insect Deck muhahahahaha :devious:
Im sorry, but this is hilarious. We are all in a tizzy about predictions for cards we cant find effects for yet. Everyone hold hands, we're about to take off!
Obviously, we wouldn't use "Level Up!" on 9. You gotta keep your eyes on the prize, which is level 11 by it's own effect.
So let's go:
Your opponent attacks your Flying Kamakiri #1 or Howling Insect and you Special summon Level 3 (which has 1400 but no ATK reduction for your opponent). During your Standby Phase, you tribute him to the graveyard and SS Level 5 which will have 2300ATK and reduce monster's by 500.
Now, at Main Phase 1, you have a LOT of options. You can activate Cold Wave and just go beatdown on your oppoinent's monsters.
You can, of course, activate Level Up! or any other form of special summon to get the higher "Ultimate Insect" Levels and surrender some ATK reduction for a jump in the Evolutionary ladder.
I choose the latter.
Of course, with our advanced expertise, we've all forgotten ONE KEY CARD in insect decks. Think back to the best set released as of yet (other than LOD and DCR which blessed us all with so many fiends). Think....think....give up? Fine. The card I speak of is the original "Level up!" but back in the day it was known as:
Insect Imitation (PSV - 068)
Normal Spell Card Offer 1 monster on your side of the field as a Tribute. Select 1 Insect type monster from your deck that is 1 Level higher than the Tribute monster and Special summon it to the field in face-up attack position or face-down defense position. The Deck is then shuffled.
Summon Pinch Hopper and slam into your opponent's monster or destroy him in any way whatsoever (as long as he hitting the graveyard is the last action) and Special summon a level 6 insect like:
Empress Mantis
WIND/Insect/6/2200/1400 Queen of an army of giant mantises whose command moves legions.
And there you have it. Use Insect Imitation on her and you've got yourself "Ultimate Insect LV7" and he can level up from there.
Or Special summon "The Fiend Megacyber" with his effect and use Insect Imitation on him.
Insect Princess is also level 6 but she will become a powerhouse in an insect deck with DNA Surgery + Insect Barrier. So we won't be tributing her. Unless of course, it's a case of emergency.
Of course, Level 7 won't reduce ATKs but it's 2700ATK! It doesn't need to!
Waldo10032 – The Fiendish Duelist says: "What does not belong? A drum, an egg, and a Fiend Deck?
Well, you can beat a drum. You can beat an egg, but you can't beat a Fiend Deck."
What makes you think that UI will go past level 5? I'm sure it's possible but improbable. Lv Monster increase by 2 levels each evolution. Do any current evolutions go past 3 evolution states? I personaly think that it will proberly stop at Lv 5. Also don't Lv monsters usualy have their evolutions all come out in the same set or a series of sets in a chain. I don't think I saw an UI in TLM so level 5 is proberly the end of the UI family. I may be wrong but logicly I see 5 as the end.

*smacks forhead*
Cause the text tells us?
Ultimate Insect LV5
Wind/Insect/5/2300/900
If this card was Special Summoned by the effect of "Ultimate Insect LV3", as long as this card remains face-up on the field, decrease the ATK of all of your opponent's monsters by 500 points. During your Standby Phase, send this face-up card to the Graveyard to Special Summon 1 "Ultimate Insect LV7" from your hand or Deck. (You cannot activate this effect the turn this card is Normal Summoned, Special Summoned, or flipped face-up.)
Well, I saw the text for level 5 and it said you can special summon level 7 during the standby phase. Which is WHY this set is so interesting to me.
Besides, you're seeing it right now.
Ultimate Insect Lv1 came out in SOD
Ultimate Insect Lv3 came out in RDS
And look at the Mystic Swordsmen set:
Mystic Swordsman Lv2 came out in SOD
Mystic Swordsman Lv4 came out in RDS
And the Silent Swordsman set:
Silent Swordsman Lv3 came out in RDS.
Silent Swordsman Lv5 comes out in FET.
Silent Swordsman Lv7 is a game promo.

YES!!! Don't let this madness continue! Inset decks should not be allowed to make a comeback..... Actually, they should come back. Too long have they been getting crap cards, now they should be a whole lot better, with the game evolving and all. Course, they need something like this to contend with regionals, imo and should eventually be able to win it. Finally Originality shall win1!! My Relequished deck may even win..........
Wow... I've been thinking about building an odd and original deck... I was looking at insects, but now that I've found this, I think I might stay with them! These insects look awfully intriguing in my opinion, and if they do go to at least to lv. 9, that seals the deal for me and my insect deck. Yay. Soooo, got any insect tactics? >> << -snickers about his insect deck- And now, since in Dark Revealations Needle Worm comes out, I'll be able to use it too *grin* Hip-Hip-Hurray for insects!
Just to wrap this up once and for all... I was glancing over Spikes and Baron's list for The Lost Millennium, and found this:
TLM-JP010
Ultimate Insect LV7
Wind/Insect/7/2600/1200
When this card is special summon by the effect of [Ultimate Insect LV5], when this
card is face-up on the field, the attack strength and defense strength of all opponent's monsters is decrease by 700.
Super Rare/Ultimate Rare
So, it looks like LV. 7 is going to be the last one *sniff* :disappoin
On another note, it doesn't mention the supposed 'cannot enter battle phase' effect, so maybe the translation isn't accurate *fingerscross*
aw dragon beat me to it. anyways, the text of LV7 makes it clear that it is the last one, but i think we can all agree its picture is definately worthy of the final Ultimate Insect.
Wow, Ultimate Insect Lv5 is pretty good just on it's own. Brilliant Idea with the King Tiger Wanghu, but I don't think that would work...Isn't it true that King Tiger Wanghu's effect would trigger before Ultimate Insect's?
nope, all the UI effects are continuous, they never activate they just happen. the instant a monster hits the field its atk is reduced before anything else can happen.
