So can you no longer mind control an opponent to taxi one of your figures or mind control a mind controler to mind control an adjacent opponent into taxiing them. To pick up a figure it's a free action but then their is the accompanying move or power action which means mind controling to taxi would literally go no where. Or can mind control someone to pick up someone, not move and just drop them in a different adjacent square.
If you mind control an outwitter can you un outwit what the outwitter had previously outwitted , like a super power you wish to use. If you mind control an outwitter to outwit a power can your opponent turn off outwit to regain the power. Ex. I mindcontrol to outwit impervious. When I go to attack impervious character the opponent declares they shut off outwit and because of that they regain outwit. Team abilities (such as wild cards) can be turned off and on when being attacked at the opponent's choice and so can supersenses and imperious. If so why would you do it?
Originally posted by Grappler 8 is not 10. For adults the game will be challenging with the new rules.
And Panzerblitz makes HeroClix look like Monopoly in comparison. So if you're going to make a nit about 2 years being some immense gap in mental processing ability I'll play along by pointing out HeroClix is wargame-lite compared to most of whats on the market. Its within the realm of intelligent 8 year olds, and within their ability to play well. Those that can't grasp the rule set at that age probably don't have the marbles to play well at any age, and those that don't have the patience to sort through the rules will probably be the type to just play the game off the cuff regardless of whether the rules are 15 sentences or 15 pages. If they are inclined to play the game at all.
If you want to subscribe to the "8 years old = dumbed down game system" thats your business. As someone who beat that pigeon hole rating as a kid, regularly sees kids who do likewise, and is frankly fed up with that sort of low expectations mindset (by third grade, kids should be capable of reading novels, working through a 15 page rulebook should be trivial in comparison) I find that viewpoint insulting. For those that believe 8 year olds are that incapable, Parker Brothers and Milton Bradley put out plenty of "roll your dice, move your mice" games to fit the bill. That WizKids set their expectations bar higher is not an excuse to play Handicapper General by telling them to tone it down. The game rule complexity is fine as they are, and they'll get better to understand the more well defined they get.
I agree with you 100% Marshall. Local torunies should be games that prepare one for reginals (or whatever HC has, I never pay attention). If people let up on them during local tournies then the kid will think he is playing the rules right and think he is better than he really is. But when he gets to a big tourney, hell get shot down and maybe yelled at for not following the rules to the letter and playing at the sub-par level that he plays at in his/her handicapped local tournies.
P.S. Hope this makes sence, im kinda tired at the moment.
Originally posted by Grappler Maybe after playing a while it won't be too bad, but the game is sounding more and more legalistic. "8 yrs and older", yeah if the 8yr olds use the figures to be shot with dart guns and firecrackers because many 8 year old won't be able to keep up with these rules.
The only way 8 yr olds are going to play this game is if they have an older kid or adult showing them how. Maybe after they've played the game awhile they can read the rules and work their way backwards.
But a couple of non-phenom 8 yr olds starting unassisted from scratch and getting it right? Not bloody likely.
Originally posted by cscottk Yes and no. They can fix this, but the fact they won't (so far) because that is what the PAC says even though Dr. G. has admited that this is not what they intended.
This is just irritating. If they intended result "A", it's daggone stupid to insist on result "B" because they didn't word the rules right.
Instead of making the game fit the rules, they should make the rules fit the game. Because they screwed the pooch, we have to play (in tourneys at least) a buncha bad rules...
