While there are plenty of ways to deal with Chaos Soldier the fact remains that he is too-powerful. In both ATK strength and with his abilites and he is too easy to summon.
I've said on multiple occasions "I would have won if it was not for him pulling Chaos Soldier." No card should have the ability to single-handedly turn a duel around as this guy can.
What reall makes him a pain is that many people don't even bother to use his second attack ability, they just sit back and remove. Even cheaper are those who use him with G-Bind or Area B so that nothing can kill him. They don't have to worry about stuff like Sakuretsu armor and if he's in defense mose Mirror Force can't touch him.
Chaos Soldier falls into the same catagorey I feel Mad Scientist did: Overly abused and way too cheap.
Sorry bout dat. My vote was not to burn it. It's strong, but we have plenty of ways to deal with BLS. If you're in a position where you can't stop BLS, then it doesn't matter if the card is BLS, Beserk Gorilla or Harpie Lady.
Someone has to give a ney vote in this sea of sea of yeas, eh?
Let's see how the next 5 months treat us and BLS before we vote to ban it. Something might be released that balances out BLS' power (even though we already have Bannisher of the Light and Necrovally). UDE might change the ruling and force players to activate which effect they want to use before they attack/remove a monster.
Yes, he is broken, but people, grow some blz and find a way to deal with him. You did it with Jinzo, you've done it with Yata, It's been done with CED, but still you complain about how broken he is. Stop complaining and play the game. Try this, make your opponent regret playing the BLS. Enemy Controller is unrestricted, and there's still Snatch Steal. Go crazy, use Exchange. Or just kill him and move on. There are plenty of monster removal cards that can deal with him as Spell Speed 2. Everyone complains about how bad things are or how broken things are, why don't you shut up. If you don't like him don't use him. Personally, I love that card. I don't run him, but I have a copy of him just in case I feel the urge. I would have to say he is my favorite card (next to Mystical Knight of Jackal) and he, CED and Yata (with a little help from Theban) are the reason everyone at my cardshop loves the ban list. I say keep him. He sets a bar for all of us to reach towards. Who can beat the Luster Soldier?
*Whew* For a second, I thought I was the only one to defend BLS. I'm not cut out the be the Atticus Finch of the dueling world.
You've probably guessed already, but I run BLS in my deck. Let me tell you, not many duelists expect a BLS in a Harpie/Wind beatdown deck and it's not easy (Homunculus the Alchemic Being is a big help).
Let's not suffer from a bad case of Black Luster Envy ...
Let us take a look at the benefits, the improvements in skill and the chalenges that come with the non-banning of this card.
Let cookie-cutters mimic Black Luster Decks, it's finaly giving them a chance of winning. Everyone has the chance to know the warm fuzzy feeling that comes with ending unbeaten in a tourney ... Skill is less important to stay alive a little longer and thunder-dragons are beeing put into decks, no matter how bad their stats are.
(It also gives players a nice target for the snatch-steals they've gotten from the recent structure decks)
For the more advanced players : It takes skill to build a deck that can end the reign of chaos that is going on. Too often I hear the remark "can not win from this guys deck, it's all chaos, light and dark and Black Luster Jinzo DD-Lady"
Think of the boost in inspiration that is required, and the satisfaction that commes with bringing a BLS-deck to it's knees.
*contemp for BLS takes over, begins to speak without regard and reason*
"SCREW THE TRAIL BURN HIM NOW, BURN HIM ALLLLLL, AND UPON THE BURNING WE WILL TAKE THE ASHES OF BLS AND THROW IT OVER "ORGINALITY IS DEAD CANYON" THE TIME FOR LEGAL PRECEDENT AND HOHAHA IS OVER, THE SOLTION IS CLEAR, BURN BLS NOWW"
ahh, relaxed now, please enjoy my light heated rant and remeber to relax and have fun when reading it-and yes my spelling does suck

What? Are you afraid of BLS? Wuss...(sorry, had to be said)
Not burn a card deemed to broken to exist? how could I not!
*exerts Jedi Mind Control*
You will not burn the Black Luster Soldier - Envoy cards. Instead, you will send them to me. With an extra-large Pizza and Coke.
*end Jedi Mind Control*

Muha, I was waiting for this to come up. Every time BLS gets discussed, this comes up, and I'll admit I've said it myself on occasion.
But the answer is still the same: Yes, Bottomless Trap Hole/ Mirror Force/ Sakuretsu Armor/ Smashing Ground/ Hammer Shot/ DDWL/ Solemn Judgement / Horn Of Heaven / [Insert Random Removal Card] all stop BLS, but there's absolutely no guarantee that you'll have these cards Set/ready when BLS hits the field.
It's highly unlikely that your opponent will just drop BLS down when your S/T zone is full, after all.
Personally, were I to use BLS, I would use him in a deck with 3 Cold Waves.
*Note: I think BLS-EOTB Should be banned I am playing Devils Advocate*
Lets think here seriously, there are tons of Broken Cards in this Format. Delinquent Duo, Pot of Greed, Graceful charity, Sinister Serpent. All of which are equally as bad or in the case of the the spells worse than BLS.
I could care less if my opponent has a BLS first hand, they have a ways to get it out. If I play it smart I can overcome him. If I get Delinquent Duo'd I have a much smaller chance of winning however. Card Advantage this easy to play (in spell form) ruins the game much more than the Soldier.
In tourney play would you rather play against the same decks but have the better player win or have a game come down to the one who draws the broken spell first.
So to save my client, lets look at the prescidents set by Konami, Sangan escapes the axe, Those Mischievous Demon twins terrorize us, and people are stocking up on pot.
using bacon lettuce and other words just makes a person sound childish.
As for standing up for him ... unless you are facing him who wouldnt like something easy to summon, attack twice OR remove from play. If either effect were not there you would not be arguing about him.
Painful choice takes some of the options to get him out quickly so he is not as quick, but you still have to draw him (1 in 40)
Well, well, well....I present to you the people of the jury, as evidence, subject A: the ban list as of April 1st.
Several of us realmers have asked, "why wasn't BLS banned?" I have here the answer.
It lies in Master Collection volume 2...I quote from a news release:

That's true, but again, if you don't have anything that can stop BLS ready, then it doesn't matter if the card is BLS, Beserk Gorilla or Harpie Lady. Will you complain when Injection Fariy Lily hits your unprepared field instead of BLS? There's no guarentee that I'll even have BLS ready when your field is clear either; that's up to my draw.
On the record, It should be noted that this court is bias and therefore null and void. The acting judge, AgentMage, is known for his anti-BLS views. I move for a change of venue. Let this trial be presided by a group of chess players without a stake in Yu-Gi-Oh!.
I can't add much more than what's already been said...but IMO, the only reason it should be banned is because he's too bloody easy to summon!
Phoenix of Nephtys is another card, when combined with Hand of Nephthys, is too broken.
I mean c'mon, tribute Hand a a token to summon her from your DECK!? That's ridiculous!
Dammit Konami R&D (if such a thing exists) get your heads out of your collective arse and stop throwing out cards that have the potential to kill this game before it really has a chance to grow into something worthwhile i.e. MTG.
IMO, if were not for the Envoys, I doubt we would even have a ban list...I could be wrong...just my $.02
Bls and ced are not just "broken" in play terms... Their very existence is a blasphemy to the game. Since the ridiculous ced (altough cool looking, I've always liked him) is banned, bls will be the matter.
His stats match those of one of the game's signature monsters, blue eyes white dragon. The stats of 3000/2500 make both monsters almost ubeatable through combat, in either position. Other high utilily monsters, like phoenix, were carefully designed, so with the aid of a book of moon or an enemy controller, can be taken down by battle. Bewd also is not a good card in *any* deck, and only fits in his own casual themed deck, so he is out of the question.
But what about bls? He a special summon without restrictions or being a nomi monster, just like the old sp.s. elemental monsters from lon. The cost is very easy to handle. Dont forget that in this game as it is now, its all about staples + hyped cards. And oh my, 90% of the staple + hyped monsters are actually dark and light. That makes it so you dont even have to build a deck around him. He perfectly fits in the "staple deck" as I call it, without even sweating.
So, till now, he have the incredible stats of 3000/2500 in a monster that is summoned almost for free, and without even wasting your normal summon. This would sound really ridiculous to us at the old times of the game before ioc. Even without its effects, seems like a april fools joke, when compared to card like soul of purity and light; he is equally easy to be summoned, much more powerful and fits better in a staple deck.
But it just begins. A free 3000 attacker wouldnt be enough. It should have an effect, too. Oh, wait. Lets make them two. And what kind of effects?
Effect 1: The double attack. Old times tyrant dragon used to do something similar, and for that, he was loaded with a bunch of drawbacks (aside from being a 2-tribute) to prevent him from ruining the game. Bls gets rid of all this nonsense. He is summoned for free, he has a whooping 3000 atk, and the second attack can be a direct one. He punishes the opponent for playing *any* monster uprotected by single handedly winning the game in one turn if he isnt stopped. Yeah. The game is already ruined. But thats half the truth. One game winning effect for no cost or anything was not enough.
Effect 2: The remove. The designers thought, what if bls is unable, or risky to attack? He would be useless. What a same. Lets make him *remove* one monster from play *every* turn *without* any drawback or cost (well at least he cannot attack, but it wouldn't be weird if he also could). Now we all can understand, how powerful is to remove the monster instead of just destroying it. It also affects f/d and is never negated (chaos sorcerer's can be negated be book of moon for example). So as long as you have bls on the field, your opponents monsters are useless, as the will be removed and you'll be attacked with everything else. There is no chance for a comeback as long as you are topdecking monsters.
To all this add as I mentioned at the beggining, bls almost impossible to be taken out in battle, even in defense position.
So the pack includes: Invincible stats, free special summoning, easily splashable in the staple deck and two game-breaking effects like no other in the game, with the only drawback of preventing one another.
This card is completely broken for the following reasons
1. Easy to summon
2. Even with the decline of Painful Choice and Mirage of Nightmare, etc., still too much support
3. Dump it with graceful, then Coth or Premature, etc.
4. D.D. Warrior Lady + Dimension Fusion
5Too many ways to summon it and liittle ways of stopping it
Ladies and Gentlemen of the jury, I present to u a broken card.
