I do think some of the writers and artists have been a problem for Superman...but I agree that most of the blame rests squarely upon the shoulders of the EDITORS!
WHY WHY WHY WHY!?!?!?!?! You know all the cool things us hardcore Silver Age fans hoped that would come back and did, (the Fortress, Phantom Zone, Bizzaro #1, and most of all KRYPTO!!!) are going away with this reboot. Those heartless cruel basthiches!!!!
if you read this then you lost 10 seconds you'll never get back.
Originally posted by Starman2003 Oh great, the over-rated, over-hyped Lee will now bring his blend of pin-ups and splash pages to Superman. Well, looks like there's a title I will be giving up on..
so you're sayin' Lee draws the pages and THEN the writer writes for the pages? thats a new take. look at anything Loeb and Sale have done in the past. Dark Victory, Long Halloween, Daredevil:Yellow those were all quick reads. and sorry but those had "pin-up pages" as well. in fact when he wrote for Superman when Mc was drawing there was alot of "pin-up pages" as well. thats just Loebs style. even Millar on Ultimates very wide screen splash page effect. Azzarello IMO is a fantastic writer and i think it will be different to see a "pin-up pages" artist bring his work to life.
Oh, and regarding Mark Waid taking the reigns of the Superman "relaunch".. I don't think DC would do to him what Marvel did on his run on FF. Esp. in light of that, DC would prob. try to treat him better, thus making themselves look bad, while making Marvel look like the evil stepsister.. I may be wrong, but that seems to be the way they've been doing things of late..
It's actually known as "the Marvel method". The writer will provide the story, then later will put in dialogue as it will fit within the design of the page. It began when Stan was writing twenty books at the same time, and couldn't provide full scripts.

I agree with you, actually, on Azzarello. I think he's a #### talented writer, and his style will suit the Dark Knight..
However, Jim Lee is too flashy for Batman. Even the scenes looked overdone. A lot of his panels looked rushed, and the issue with Talia and Catwoman fighting -- I couldn't tell who was who at points. I'm sorry but Jim Lee had his "15 Minutes of Fame", now it's time to let the new faces step forth..
i have to disagree. jim lee's 15 minutes were up years ago and now he is making a comeback. he is a good artist...look at it this way..it could have been liefield.
and Harris and Sale are "new" faces? i miss Harris. his 3 part issue in B.L.o.D.K. was sweet and his recent cover work i've been 50/50 on (its the digital color i think). Sale would be nice as well, but i wouldn't consider them "new".
Looks and reality are two different things. Both companies do their fair share of evil. Just ask Dan Jurgens and Alan Moore. To be fair many of the decisions are made further up the food chain than artist, writers, or even editors. They're in the stock and board ooms. I'm quite sure there is an actual binder that details in full what is allowed on each book. "Bibles" as they are called that are supposed to protect "the Brand". If one is percieved to fall out of that perview, then they are ejected for someone more brand friendly.

Oh, I didn't mean that Tony Harris or Tim Sale were "new faces". Quite the contrary.. I meant, "new faces", as in new, out of school, etc.
See, I equate these "relaunches" as taking classic films and remaking them with big name stars and "Whiz! Bang!" fancy SFX, all for the sake of $$$. I dread the day Hollywood gets the rights to remake one of my all-time favorite science-fiction classics, Day the Earth Stood Still...
I, a guy that really dislikes Superman in it's current form, am really excited about the re-launch. I have been excited about previous creative teams only to be let down yet again. Part of me still feels that even with these teams that Superman will still amount to a full serving of SUCK.

Whoa! They're doing away w/Krypto?? I didn't see that in the piece from Newsarama! Where did you hear that??
Well here's the thing, either Kal-el is going to bite it or become MIA for a long while.
They can't kill Kal-el again, because well that would be too much like Marvel AND
after his last "death" he was told in no uncertain terms would he be able to be brought back again by Dr, Occult.
So it's looking like the Kal-el we all know and love is going MIA. Unless the Fortress is destryoed there are few that know of its location and that can enter it as well. So it will leave from continuity slowly as might Krypto.
What is Krypto's fate????? Actually I'm more concerned over him rather than Supes!!!!!
DC will get loads on hate mail by this move and sales will increase just to see what happens/happend to Kal.
The only way I can see DC pulling this off is by letting the Kal-el clone leaving the Phanton Zone, eventhough it was sealed by Jor-el. This can be done because Jor-el being the super smart person he is can monitor what's going on outside of the Phantom Zone see that maybe Kal-el died and sent his son out "again" to be earth's protector. This way the Silver age Superman returns and John Byrne's superman was just a bad dream.
