I've judged under his tutolage and let me tell you, it's no easy task. M_N and KrazyKillRoy shaped the way i train MY judges. Instead of giving you an answer, they asked me to walk through it. I used to get MAD when they'd answer with "Just resolve the chain", "Read the card text", or my most HATED of all responses, "Why?"
So that's where you picked that up. About a minute or two after you told me to work out that player situation with the other judges today, I realized that it is a VERY good way to train judges. So while I thank your mentors for teaching you those techniques, I also thank YOU for showing me how problems like that are resolved.
As for the article itself, I agree 100%. This site has really helped keep my interest in Yu-Gi-Oh! alive. This site has shaped me from a player with NO theme at all into what i would consider an established duelist. At this point, I would like to give a personal thank you to the Member, BlackGame. It was her who helped me contrust my first tournament worthy deck a long time ago. (A burn deck)
I can only hope that the people on this site will be and continue to be as helpful to others as BlackGame was to me.
Kudos on the article Waldo and may Yugiohrealms live on for a long time.
One more thing before I forget. With all that usually goes on in person, I usually forget to say this, but I want to thank you, Waldo, for inspiring me to become a judge in the first place. It was after I first met you in the regionals at NG (when i was playing my burn deck) and after I met you a second time at the IOC pre-release that i decided to use what I know about my favorite hobby to help others. So thank you, Waldo.
Waldo I just want to tell you that you were THE duelist that inspired me to create new ideas and being original. Not to mention lure me into the Dark Side by joining the Dark Monarchs. I just wanted to say thank you, for all that you've done fore me.
Hey Waldo! Props to ya and this post! It was YOU who kept me going in the game and YOU who really pulled the most creativity out of me when I started along the path of fiends. 8^D
On top of this, you're a great PERSON to hang out with, even if its digital! You've been helping me along my way of judging and if I make L2 next month, a good chunk of it will be to your teaching.
Hey folks! This guy even offered to give me his phone number to call him if I ran into issues when I went to my first judging event, nervous as heck! I'm on the west coast and he's on the east coast for cying out loud!!!
So here's to you, fellow Monarch. Keep doing what you do and I'm sure the Dark Ruler is looking down and smiling....er scowling....er something like that. 8^D
:classic: Great words, thank you for letting me get my first major Judge experience at the CRV sneak peek...Thanks! Like I have told many ppl in IRL, I would be have the duelist I am now if it weren't for you and this site, I also found it thru a link and have stuck to it since I began playing in October of 2003. (Hmm...1 month before you started... )
Im amazed. This article has really pumped people up. I suppose its true, too. None of us would be where we are without the advice and nurturing of others here at this site. Realms has been the best learning experience for me. And oddly enough many of the same individuals that Waldo mentioned also hold a formative place in my heart.
So here's to you:

I seem to have something in my eye.
....
..bbwwaahhhh!!
It makes me feel good that I have an influence with people, and especially if it is an influence that spreads outwardly in a good way. If others appreciate the way you help them judge, then it makes me feel good as well
To be honest with you....I have to STRONGLY disagree. Not about this being the best Yugioh site on the web (cause it IS) but about "nice" people (yes even moderators) that try to help others. I don't know if it's just me meeting all the "jerks/know it alls/high and mighty" players but there have been many times I've been met with rude responses and behavior! I try to ask a question and reason something out with others and if I'm wrong they treat me like I'm some kind of retard! Then they respond as if they're better than me and such. Not to mention some of the people in the chat rooms that are just plain rude (for no reason!). I know this isn't YugiohRealms fault cause wherever you go there will always be people who just refuse to get along with others, or were just having a really bad day and take it out by rude to other people on realms (still NO EXCUSE for rudeness!).
I suppose I should also add that aside from many rude happenings and encounters tho, this has been the best place that helped to strenghten my dueling skills and strategy (I even learned much from my "not so pleasant" encounters). It also provides a nice daily update as far as what happens in the YuGiOh TCG world (you could call it YuGiOh Online Weekly LOL) which is indeed "priceless" among serious players.
Some people, I dont think realize how offputting it sounds when they start off their post with
"Wrong..." or "Next time, use the search" or "This question has been asked already..." kind of stuff.
There are others whose maturity is still lacking some of the finer points. ( I tend to avoid their threads and posts) You can't debate with the self rightous. Ill admit that in the past I have snapped at others who I thought were writing uncalled for comments. Ive also made it publically apparent that I freely report unecessary behavior. As a result, there are very few members that know who I am, that act like that to me. Not saying it wont happen though.
But that is life. Next time you are in the car, tally up the number of people who do something rude to other drivers, and those that do something nice.
Running into jerks on this site is not, and probably never will be, a rare thing. But, all you can do is maintain your own integrity. Communicate with those who do show what you consider respect. Shun those who dont. Your circle of friends and influence will develop to the point that you can quite easily avoid people you dont care for.
And you can be sure that those people are probably avoiding you too.
I've also learned that the BIGGER the community, the more the possibility someone will do something you don't like.
It's just odds.
The best we can do is try to be an example to others.
Waldo10032 – The Fiendish Duelist says:
------------------------------------- "Everything I know, I learned from Novastar, VenomLord, Magicien_Noir, KrazyKillRoy, Pyrofire14, Nataku, Jeff_Mop, Tamahome, mortals, KenjiBlade, Agentmage2012, Hinky, fantasyzz, and Tyloki. So praise me for learning so well when I'm right and blame THEM for screwing up when I'm wrong. (More people will be added to this list as needed) "
