the main thing about forced back though is that while bottomless trap hole and mirror force are more reliable they still fall short of protecting against a few cards. Jinzo the monarchs exiled force hand of nephthys making priority continuous and trigger effects have to wait for another turn which allows you to set up for a defense.
That says it right there. Cards that have an effect when they hit the field, or that enable the turn player to claim priority to activate their effects, take a BIG hit. Let's say I have a Magician of Faith set, and I need her effect to go off. My opponent Special Summons Cyber Dragon, and then tributes it for Zaborg. Trap Hole, Bottomless Trap Hole, Torrential Tribute, none of those cards can protect my creature. In this case, there are now only four cards that stop my opponent from getting the effect of Zaborg, and one of them only because of his monster destroying ability, and it costs 1500 lp to use (My Body as a Shield). Solemn Judgment, which negates spells, traps, and summons, costs HALF your life to activate. Horn of Heaven costs you to tribute a monster, which makes it a -1 and very unattractive. With Forced Back, I can now bounce back Zaborg, and since I negated the summon, the turn player does NOT get priority to activate Zaborg's effect (how can he if he was NEVER SUMMONED in the first place), and my creature is safe.
Compulsory Evacuation Device is indeed a great card of HIGH utility, which allows you to use on EITHER side of the field, however it does not NEGATE the summon of a creature, so creatures with effects that occur AT THE SUMMON still go through. In the case of the example above, sure I could bounce Zaborg back, but Magician of Faith would still die.
All in all it depends on what you are trying to do, however I agree with Phenom25 that Forced Back will definately see play in both the main and sidedecks of tournament calibur decks. I know I am going to my prerelease to get at least two.
of course, you could just bounce magician of faith back to your hand instead to save it :ermm:
another good addition to My "Death by Stupidy"Deck Life Equalizer can be but brings up a interesting question already in My mind
If The opponents life points were less that 3000 and Your were over the 8000 and He pulled Life Equalizer But You have "Bad reaction to Smoochie"in play wouldn't that be considered a increase in life points and there by counters and reduce His instead.?
I run bad reaction as part of several plays in That Deck I run and deliberatly running up the persons life points to drop them down so low quickly can be downright demented if done right.
It will definately be tech'd. Its super appealling.
anybody know its rarity??
It's only a Rare, just like SOI's Malfunction & Goblin out of the Frying Pan but so much more playable that the previous 2.
And upon seeing the rest of the set, I'll go out on a limb and say this: I wouldn't be surprised if Evan Vargas qualifies for '07 Nats with an up-graded Fairy deck stocked w/ Counter Traps. I'd so like to see it......

Nope. There is no 'increase' or 'decrease' in life points with Life Equalizer; they just 'become' 3000. Any card that does not specifically state that the opponent 'loses' or 'gains' life points is not affected by Simochi, because the card just 'resets' the life points to a set amount. It's the same as if you tried to use Des Wombat or Poison of the Old Man to save yourself from the effects of Self-Destruct Button: there is no 'damage' or 'decrease' in your life points, they just get reset to 0.
I have one question that you might not be able to answer as of yet. Since the summon is negated and you decide to not think one duel and use forced back on lets say Reflect bounder, since the summon was negated would he be able just to summon him again? or will it count for a summon? I ask this because its counterparts, goblin out of the frying pan, and malfunction lets them both be able to activate the card again. I personally think the person would be able to summon again that turn, but when a card is horned or solemned the player is not able to summon or set again for that turn as if it was a cost..., which would be kind of understandable. So please can someone just tell me this because it makes a big difference if im going to run some of these in a deck.
Le'ts put it like so:
In a turn you have a few piles of options, 2 of them are:
Normal Summoning, and Spell/Trap activation.
Normal Summoning is limited to 1 per turn (When no special abilities to extra summon, etc...) and there is no limit to activation of Spells/Traps. So once you used that Normal Summon, you may not use it again. For example: Your opponent cannot activate another trap in response to the summon because it hasn't been successfully summoned, but the ABILITY to summon has been used, that's why you can't summon again.
Also, with Malfunction, your opponent would be able to set, but not activate :)
force back is not a good card in today's game, at least when it comes to tributes, because of treeborn frog. treeborn from gives your opponent a free tribute every turn that it can come to the field. force back would only be good if they tribute anything other than treeborn frog. however, it could be a nice card for a game finishing hit. they need to summon for field presence and you negate that summoning leaving the field empty for the game winning kill.
Life Equalizer, i am going on record saying this card is not worth putting in a deck. can anyone tell me what deck stratagy could or would use this card (a good playable fun deck)?

So the Frog comes back....And? If 1 summon separates you from winning & losing, the Frog is going to be the last thing on your mind. Admitted, the Frog has a good effect but it isn't broken. Its play is starting to go down slowly and with the arrival of the cards in EoJ, the Frog's going to be even harder to keep in play....
I could see Forced Back being used in field adavntage decks. Its and old stratagy, much outdated in light of OTK and Turn-by-turn Burn Decks, but it could be the very bane of Beatdown and other deck that rely on monster presence superiority. Also, it can be used in any situation where your opponents in tributing.
As a last point, if Forced Back works on fusion summonings, it could work to completly disrupt the whole strategy of fusion decks. Example: Opponent uses Stein's effect to special summon super-big Cyber End for a Fusion OTK, but you Force Back CED and your opponent just lost 5000 LP. This card is good for pure counterability.
I see much playability in this card. If you use alot of Big monsters to do your heavy hitting, beware.
